The problem with US healthcare is costs are too high, not that subsidies are too small. That said, cutting subsidies hurts those who can least afford it, sudden cuts to people’s insurance does not fix the problem. 2026 enrollment til Dec 15 at healthcare.gov

Joint Armed Services Committee received a letter from the Adjutant General for the state of Alaska Maj. Gen. Torrence Saxe. It explains that AK must have a reaction force of 100 instead of 350 by Jan. 1, and they will deploy to DC in March. We have questions but grateful for communication. #akleg

Thank you yo @repgray.bsky.social for publicly raising these questions. I believe the force is being assembled by order of the Trump Regime to violate the 1st Amendment rights of Alaskans!

Opinion: As Alaskans, we need information now about the National Guard’s orders to stand up a quick reaction force
Alaskans have a right to know why we require a force like this.

On Oct. 8, 2025, the AK National Guard got a memo from Major General Ronald Burkett, Director of NG Operations. It requires AK to prepare a Quick Reaction Force of 350 trained in batons, Tasers, & pepper spray to deploy for riot control. As Chair of AK’s Joint Armed Services Comm., I’m concerned.

The greatest honor of my life was to serve our nation with men & women from every corner of the country & every walk of life.

In a time when our nation is so divided, today let's come together to honor those who fought for our right to speak freely & disagree, in pursuit of that more perfect union.

On Nov. 1, federal SNAP funding stopped. This leaves 70,000 Alaskans (many of them children) facing hunger.
1. Tell governor to find a way to feed as many as possible.
2. Let your legislator know that you support a special session.
3. Make a donation to the Food Bank of Alaska #akleg #akgov

The SNAP debacle that is about to happen on Saturday is completely unnecessary:
1. There is a federal contingency fund for
SNAP that could be used.
2. With a simple rule change, the Senate could reopen the government with 51 votes
- there are 53 Republican Senators.

I wish there were an easy way for AK to backfill the $28 million in federal SNAP funding being denied to the state by the Trump administration, but there is no way for us to put $$ on federal EBT cards. We are still exploring every conceivable option. Donate to FoodBankofAlaska.org #akleg #Alaska
