CT is doing the work to make our schools safer places for children to learn. Federal STOP School Violence grants have been used to make more than 150 schools & hundreds of thousands of students safer.

I sent a letter to the Committee on Education & Workforce calling for a full committee hearing to address school shootings.

Preventing school shootings requires a multifaceted approach that includes mental health support, community engagement, gun safety measures, and educational programs.

The Education & Workforce Cmte needs to assert our Article I & jurisdictional authority over this administration. There have been no hearings on the dismantling of the Dept of Education which is happening right before our eyes. Today I called for hearings & shared my priorities.

The Education & Workforce Committee met to advance legislation that weakens employee pay and protections. While the titles may be catchy, the devil is in the details and these bills change the way overtime and tips are paid and once again puts workers last.

I introduced the Restoring Food Security for American Families & Farmers Act of 2025 to repeal SNAP cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill. The shutdown is over, but once the $187B in cuts set in-people will go hungry, our economy will suffer & states will have the impossible task of filling in the gaps

Moving Career Technical Education from the Dept of Education to the Dept of Labor shows a lack of understanding of how CTE provides experience, exploration and career development in students and lacks appreciation for the vital role educators play in this scenario
November 19, 2025 at 11:50 PM
In their ongoing effort to delegitimize the Department of Education, Secretary McMahon and House Republicans are pushing the narrative that the 43 day government shutdown had no effect on education.
The people who actually do the work of educating our children know differently.

ACLU was on the Hill and they brought veterans from CT05 who expressed deep concern about the mobilization of the military in American cities. Thank you for a meaningful & engaging conversation and the reminder of the erosion of trust occurring in our communities.

AI is the future of technology. We must be forward-thinking about how we can best teach students and ensure educators have the necessary training and resources to facilitate that learning.

The vote to release the Epstein files was an easy yes for me.

When ACA tax credits expire, CT residents will see health care costs double, triple, or even quadruple – all because Republicans refused to negotiate.

The entire CT delegation remains committed to delivering the quality, affordable care our constituents deserve.

I join my colleagues in welcoming Rep Adelita Grijlava as a Member of the House of Representatives. The people of AZ07 deserve a voice in Congress.

I look forward to working together on behalf of the American people.
Now let’s let karma cook.

Hayes: He said he would find the money to give bonuses to TSA agents who he feels were loyal. But when it came to feeding hungry children, you didn’t have to look for the money. The money was right there. It was right there and the president decided that he would not use it.

Made it to DC after midnight to offer my SNAP amendment in the Rules Cmte

Hayes: The fact that starving children were used—I guess I hope what the American public took away is the people who cared about that are the Democrats because the Republicans didn’t give a damn about it. I yield back.

CT is home to nearly 60,000 veterans who served during World War II, Vietnam War and the Korean War. I joined Lt Gov Bysewivkz and CT Veterans Affairs in Newtown to honor these veterans, many of whom did not receive the proper recognition they deserved when they first arrived home.

At the Bethel Health Care Center for a Veterans Day Celebration. All Americans deserve access to high-quality, affordable healthcare, especially the veterans who sacrificed for our country.

This #VeteransDay, we express our immense gratitude for the service and sacrifice of our veterans. A debt that can never be repaid and one we will always appreciate.

3 yrs ago Maddie wrote me a letter about the issues she cared about. Today, I joined Troop 1163 at her Court of Honor as she became the first female Eagle Scout in Farmington & West Hartford
She turned concern into action and I am inspired by her leadership- She represents the best of our future! 🇺🇸

Amazing morning at the “Black Men in White Coats” Youth Summit. Encouraged by the hundreds of young people who are the next generation of healthcare professionals.

These kids have so much talent, it’s opportunity that feels elusive. I will continue to work at changing that.
