U.S. Congressman proudly fighting for the residents of Connecticut’s 2nd Congressional District.
I voted to pass a funding bill that provides full-year funding for 70% of the government except for DHS. In the next 10 days, an attempt will be made to put reforms in place to stop ICE’s lawlessness. I have not & will not support a full-year DHS funding bill without reforms in law to rein in ICE.

Congratulations to a new class of Groton shipbuilders!

Last night, we celebrated 38 graduates of EB’s federally approved apprenticeship programs. With over 3,000 job openings at the Groton shipyard right now, these men & women have met the call to skill-up for long term shipbuilding careers.

The cost of health insurance has exploded for millions of Americans in 2026. A bipartisan coalition in the House successfully passed an extension of ACA tax credits to bring these costs down. There is no excuse for the Senate not to follow suit.

1/My office has received numerous inquiries regarding Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s bill to start impeachment proceedings against Kristi Noem. As this list released today from Rep. Kelly’s office confirms, I am a cosponsor of this bill along with 139 other members.

The American Nurses Association, the largest nurse professional organization in the US, declared a simple truth – Alex Pretti’s service as an ICU nurse at the VA with a spotless record deserves a neutral professional investigation of his killing, not a cover-up.

Statement from the American Nurses Association regarding the death of registered nurse Alex Pretti
The American Nurses Association (ANA) is deeply disturbed and saddened to learn of the death of Alex Pretti, a registered nurse, in Minneapolis earlier today. We extend our condolences to Alex’s loved...

Today, the House passed a package of funding bills. I voted "no" the DHS bill, which falls far short of reining in Kristi Noem’s ICE. But elsewhere, with bipartisan negotiations, the other bills go a distance to stabilize basic services amid Trump cuts & keep CT’s defense industry growth on track.

Some good news. I worked with our towns and local non-profits to secure federal funding for four local projects focused on public safety, infrastructure, and STEM education. This month, Congress officially passed over $2.6M in funding to make these projects a reality.

At a time when we need to be strengthening alliances, there is absolutely no reason to be threatening Greenland & Denmark’s sovereignty on the basis of national security. Greenland & Denmark provide assistance to our national defense. I’m an original co-sponsor of the No Funds for NATO Invasion Act.

Slapping new tariffs on allies to jam Denmark is not how longtime friends should be treated. Today, Greenland hosts U.S. missile defense with no hesitation. The world is dangerous enough without picking a fight with our partners.

A federal judge has ruled that Revolution Wind can resume work after the Trump Admin's second attempt to halt the project. That means workers on the Revolution Wind project can get back to work & finish the job to power a robust energy grid with cheaper energy for hundreds of thousands of homes.

The American people have sent a message loud & clear that they are struggling with the high cost of living. Now, millions are getting hit with skyrocketing health care costs.

Today, after months of obstruction, the House finally acted to bring these costs down. The Senate & POTUS must follow suit.

I signed onto a successful discharge petition to force a vote in the House on extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits for three years. After months of obstruction, that vote is finally happening this week.

Congress must bring down the skyrocketing health care costs.

Since their military strikes in Venezuela, no one in the Trump Administration has been able to explain how this ends. One thing is clear, American taxpayers didn't sign up to “reimburse” oil companies for their cost of business. I joined Brian & Co. on WTIC 1080 to discuss.

1/Today is a day to observe and revere the incredible action and courage of the U.S. Capitol Police, Metropolitan Police, and all law enforcement who protect our democracy.

Happy New Year to everyone in CT’s Second District! Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy, and safe 2026.

I’m looking forward to another year of working alongside the caring, hard working people of CT-02, fighting for our region's priorities.

The Revolution Wind offshore wind project already cleared an extensive national security review. The project is 85% complete with 58 turbines in the water. Pausing it without any real justification will do nothing but increase energy costs and eliminate good paying jobs for the building trades.

The President’s reckless tariff policies are driving up car prices. The average cost of a new car in Connecticut is now $50,000. I met with the CT Automotive Retailers Association. They shared that 10% of the cost of new cars is from Trump tariffs alone. The American people are paying the price.

Earlier this week, I underwent a long scheduled knee replacement surgery in Hartford. The operation was successful, and I am recovering at home in Connecticut. I am on pace to resume my normal schedule in Washington and the Second District in the new year.

The 2026 defense policy bill boosts submarine production, invests in the industrial base, and ensures the wage improvement for Groton shipbuilders. Glad to complete final passage in the House last week after months of bipartisan work on the Seapower Subcommittee.
December 16, 2025 at 6:31 PM
Today, Groton shipbuilders officially delivered the future USS IDAHO to the U.S. Navy. This is the second Virginia-class submarine delivered in 2025—proof of the growing momentum for the program thanks to record hiring at the shipyard and huge investments by Congress into the industrial base.

This week, Congress finally did its job by putting basic checks and balances on the President’s agenda.
