No one should face fear or intimidation when seeking care. HB 670, my state-level FACE Act, protects access to reproductive healthcare in PA—because these rights are human rights.

Thank you @repmcclinton.com for sharing the Speaker’s rostrum during yesterday’s session. Always an honor to serve as Speaker Pro Tempore & help guide meaningful work in the PA House.

PA’s housing crisis demands action—aging infrastructure, rising costs, and too few affordable options. That’s why I helped launch the first-ever bipartisan Housing Caucus to advance commonsense solutions for families across the Commonwealth.

House Dems passed real transit funding—sustainable, recurring, no new taxes, and $600M for roads/bridges. Senate Rs blocked it. Thanks to Gov. Shapiro & PennDOT, PRT got a $106.7M stopgap to avoid cuts & fare hikes, but without long-term funding, riders stay at risk.
reppowell.com
🧵(4/4) For riders across Allegheny County, transit isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifeline. We’ve bought some time. Now we need to finish the job.
reppowell.com
🧵(3/4) But let’s be clear: this is a stopgap, not a solution. Shifting capital dollars to cover operating expenses keeps buses on the road today but delays the maintenance and upgrades that ensure reliability tomorrow.
reppowell.com
🧵(2/4) I’m grateful to the Shapiro administration & PennDOT for acting quickly to protect riders. More than $100 million in state funds will be used to close the immediate deficit PRT is facing, averting a proposed 35% service cut and 9% fare increase.

🧵(1/4) I’m relieved that Pittsburgh Regional Transit will avoid devastating service cuts and fare hikes in the near term. No one should lose their bus to work, a ride to school, or a connection to medical care because of a budget impasse.

Today we remember the lives lost on 9/11 and honor the first responders, firefighters, and service members who ran toward danger to keep us safe.

Too many still face broken systems when they need care. We must do better—for our first responders, and for one another.
Graphic with beige background and black text featuring a 9/11 remembrance message from Pennsylvania State Representative Lindsay Powell. The text reads:
“Today we pause to remember the horror of September 11, 2001; the thousands of lives lost, and the selfless courage of firefighters, EMS, police, recovery workers, and all first responders who ran toward danger so others could live.

But remembrance isn’t enough. Decades later many of those heroes are still paying the price. Exposure to toxic dust, smoke, debris and lifelong trauma has led to chronic respiratory disease, cancer, PTSD, and other illnesses among tens of thousands who survived that day.

Today is more than a marker of tragedy—it is a reminder: as Americans, we owe a debt of care. If we ask people to run toward what frightens us, to serve in harm’s way, then we must ensure that the systems meant to protect them do not fail them.

Let’s honor the fallen not just with words, but with resolve: to legislate, to act, and to care for those who risked everything so we might have peace.”

Having a seat at the table isn’t a privilege—it’s a right. I’m proud to support the Advanced Practice RNs at Magee-Womens Hospital as they join their RN colleagues in unionizing for quality care, safe staffing, and fair pay.

Congratulations to the nurses at UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital and @seiuhcpa.org on winning your union! Proud to stand in solidarity with you as you fight for better care for every patient.

I look forward to @upmc.com's cooperation and immediate recognition of this union without delay.

Try handing in a project 24 days late at your job. See how that goes. As of today, that's exactly how late Senate Republicans are with the state budget... no regard for the deadline yet still collecting a paycheck.

The PA House just passed our bill to fund home repairs for low-income homeowners, including seniors and folks with disabilities—building on the success of the Whole Home Repairs program. Over 18,000 applicants are still waiting.

Next stop: the Senate.

Had the joy of meeting Sam—a kind & hilarious kid whose family found support at the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center. From medical care to foster & adoption services, they’re a lifeline for families. I’ll keep fighting for the resources they deserve.

If UPMC can afford to pay their retired CEO $12 million a year, they can afford to adequately staff their hospitals and ensure women get the care they need.

I stand with Magee nurses in their fight to unionize. They aren't just standing up for themselves—they are standing up for their patients.

I stand in solidarity with workers at Allegheny Reproductive Health Center!

When reproductive rights are under constant attack, the strongest way to protect this care is by standing up for the people who provide it.
A graphic with a pink background features raised fists and protest signs in silhouette. The text reads: “Organizing and unionizing is vital for all workers, but it is especially critical for those on the front lines of reproductive health care. The staff at Allegheny Reproductive Health Center are not only essential to the clinic’s daily operations — they are essential to protecting access to care in a moment of national crisis. I stand in solidarity with these workers and call on senior management to immediately and voluntarily recognize their union. At a time when reproductive rights are under relentless attack, the best way to defend this care is to defend the people who provide it.” At the bottom is the logo for State Representative Lindsay Powell, District 21, featuring a stylized bridge over a sun.

The signs say it all: support Pennsylvania workers and stand up for labor rights.

Donald Trump is targeting the NLRB. At a time when union busters hold power at the top, we don’t have time to waste. This May Day, and every day, we must stand with Pennsylvania workers.

Thank you, Rep. Chris Deluzio, for securing $50,000 in federal funding to be used to modernize Reserve Township’s municipal government. With new technology & equipment, Reserve’s small but mighty staff can better serve our neighbors. triblive.com/local/50k-in...

In this post-Roe era, the chaotic mix of laws, politics, and control over our bodies has become a dangerous mess—one that’s costing people their rights, and in some cases, their lives. We must remain committed to the fight for reproductive freedom. It's fight for all.

If Democrats won’t abolish the filibuster when they have the opportunity, we must use it to defend democracy.

Thank you, Senator Booker, for your courage, your leadership, and for reminding us that when democracy is under threat, silence is not an option.
