ICE is wreaking havoc on American streets and causing needless further bloodshed. This must stop NOW.

Heartbroken by the devastating fire at the Boston Secor Houses in Eastchester. One life lost, more than a dozen injured, and 175 people, including 57 children, displaced in the middle of winter.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. believed change was possible when ordinary people refused to accept injustice as normal. On MLK Day, we reflect on his legacy and recommit to the ongoing work of racial justice and equal opportunity.

Trump claims fairness, yet he just pardoned Former Puerto Rico Governor Wanda Vázquez, her allies, and a banker whose daughter donated millions to his super PAC while he faced corruption charges. Justice shouldn't reward the well-connected.

Pardoning Puerto Rico Former Governor Wanda Vázquez who pleaded guilty undermines accountability and reinforces a troubling double standard. When powerful figures get a pass, public trust in the justice system erodes. Accountability should apply to everyone.

ACA open enrollment ends today.

Families shouldn't have to choose between health care and paying the bills. Senate Republicans are blocking solutions.

Democrats will keep fighting to protect coverage and lower costs.

On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, we honor a man who demanded that America live up to its promises. He fought poverty, racism and injustice with courage and moral clarity. Our work is to keep pushing for the fair and equal society he envisioned.

Kristi Noem is using DHS and ICE to target innocent people, violate due process, and endanger the lives of our loved ones and neighbors. She’s blocked congressional oversight, violated public trust, and allowed excessive force. The writing’s on the wall. We must move to impeach.

Cutting off federal funding to sanctuary cities will not make anyone safer. It will hurt places like the Bronx by pulling money from schools, housing, hospitals and first responders that Bronx families rely on. We deserve smart, humane policy, not scapegoating.
Trump threatens to freeze funds to states with sanctuary cities, like NY
Trump said the feds wouldn’t provide any more assistance to states that include sanctuary cities, a list that would include Democratic-led economic powerhouses like New York York, California …

There may be no greater cesspool of corruption in the making than the intersection of prediction markets and the federal government.

A bet on government action by a government actor is always a bet against the public interest.

Rep. Torres: If an officer has the ability to conceal himself, he’s going to feel emboldened to abuse his power and brutalize everyday American citizens. What we’re witnessing is the criminalization of civil disobedience in America.

When Trump’s lawlessness threatens democracy, Democrats act. Democratic leader Rep. Ritchie Torres proposes blocking insider trading on Trump-linked government info in betting markets and requiring ICE and Border Patrol agents to display large QR codes during peaceful First Amendment protests.

Stopping visa processing for nationals from 75 countries will rip families apart, derail job opportunities, and hurt Bronx residents with loved ones abroad, students, workers, and neighbors. Our communities should not be collateral damage of fear driven policy.
US to suspend visa processing for 75 nations, State Department says
The Trump administration is suspending all visa processing for applicants from 75 countries, a State Department spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Today we honor the life of Claudette Colvin, a fearless civil rights pioneer who, at just 15, refused to surrender her dignity on a segregated Montgomery bus. Her courage helped pave the way for the legal fight that ended Jim Crow transit. May her legacy live on.

Families along the Cross Bronx Expressway already face asthma ER visits more than 3x the rest of NYC due to traffic pollution. This is environmental injustice. Bronx kids deserve clean air. We all do.

Today marks four years since the deadly Twin Parks North fire. We honor the 17 lives lost by refusing to forget, and by fighting for stronger fire safety laws and crucial investment in Bronx housing. Every Bronxite deserves to be safe and warm in their home.

Proud to introduce the Public Integrity in Financial Prediction Markets Act today with the support of 30+ of my colleagues.

The blurred line between predicting and profiting does not simply corrupt markets; it corrupts the government itself.
January 9, 2026 at 5:54 PM
If you're both a government insider AND a participant in the prediction markets, you have a perverse incentive to push for policies that personally benefit YOU.

That kind of prediction market profiteering among public officials should have no place in the federal government.

Threatening to seize Greenland from a NATO ally is reckless, unlawful, and dangerous. You do not strengthen America by blowing up the strongest alliance in modern history.

I’ve repeatedly raised the alarm about 3D-printed ghost guns, and I commend @governor.ny.gov’s leadership in taking bold action. New York is setting the national standard for public safety.
Criminals use 3D-printed guns to evade the law and put lives at risk.

They're the nation’s fastest-growing gun safety threat.

New York will become the first state in the nation to require 3D printer manufacturers to block these firearms and components from being made.

A fatal ICE operation in Minneapolis is the latest proof of an agency out of control under Trump's watch. Lethal force demands immediate accountability and transparency.

We need an independent investigation now. This is unacceptable.
January 7, 2026 at 7:06 PM
To use the power of the federal government to rip child care and social services away from poor children is immoral and indefensible. This freeze has nothing to do with fraud and everything to do with political retribution.

New York's kids are not pawns for Trump's sick games.

Heartbroken by the loss of a 15-year-old boy to gun violence in Eastchester, the serious injury of a 14-year-old, and the death of a 4-year-old girl in Williamsbridge. My heart is with their families during this unimaginably difficult time.
