Today, I was pleased to join ASD Superintendent Dr. Birks, ASD School Board Pres. Andrene Brown Nowell, Taylor Brown from Sen. Miller's office and UWGLV Community Schools Staff at Roosevelt Elementary School to learn about the incredible work being done there on Social Emotional Learning!

The PA Dept. of Education has a new agreement with Commonwealth University to offer up to 16 college credits to eligible current and former PA law enforcement officers. This will help them continue their education or prepare for a new career after service. Learn more: tinyurl.com/y2d6c957

As the father of a college student, last night’s horror at Lincoln University is every parent’s worst nightmare. This was a senseless act of violence against all of us. My heart goes out to Lincoln’s students and their families, faculty and the entire Lincoln University community as they grieve.

Early bird ticket sales are open now through Oct. 31. Get them online here: allentownpa.gov/LITP. There will be no on-site ticket sales.

PennDOT, Safety Partners to mark National Child Passenger Safety Week with a free car seat check on Thursday in South Whitehall at the Target on Cedar Crest Blvd. It'll run from 11am to 3pm. Make sure your kids are safe, and their seats are properly installed.
