As the father of a college student, last night’s horror at Lincoln University is every parent’s worst nightmare. This was a senseless act of violence against all of us. My heart goes out to Lincoln’s students and their families, faculty and the entire Lincoln University community as they grieve.

It may be fall, but here's some news to get you in the holiday spirit! Lights in the Parkway is coming back next month! It will run from Nov. 28 through Jan. 6.
Early bird ticket sales are open now through Oct. 31. Get them online here: allentownpa.gov/LITP. There will be no on-site ticket sales.

Be prepared for flu season! The Allentown Health Bureau's Flu Shot Fridays start today! Every Friday from 1:30 to 3:30pm at Alliance Hall, 245 N. 6th St.

Flu shots are available to anyone 6 mos. & and older. No insurance or residency requirements are needed. The clinic is open to everyone!

PennDOT, Safety Partners to mark National Child Passenger Safety Week with a free car seat check on Thursday in South Whitehall at the Target on Cedar Crest Blvd. It'll run from 11am to 3pm. Make sure your kids are safe, and their seats are properly installed.

Firehouse Fridays return today at Hibernia Fire Station! They'll run through Dec. 19 (closed for Black Friday, Nov. 28). It's a great opportunity for your children to meet some of the dedicated public safety personnel and learn about the firefighting equipment! Remember, kids & teens eat free!

Allentown Housing Authority will be accepting new applications for individuals 62 and older or disabled starting at 9:00AM on September 22, 2025 and ending at 11:59PM on September 26, 2025.
All applications must be completed and submitted online.

Start your engines! The 7th Annual Classics & Cruisers on Hamilton is this Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Registration starts at 8am. Police escort for show cars at 9:30.
At least 300 cars are expected and 100% of the proceeds benefit the Allentown Police Honor Guard and America on Wheels Museum.

I am pleased to share over $60,000 from the PA Dept. of Environmental Protection's Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program has been awarded to support Allentown's municipal fleet EV charging project. It will go toward the installation of 8 EV chargers for city inspection and codes vehicles.

Yesterday, the #PAHouse moved a #PABudget bill that reflects the priorities of Pennsylvanians and would make investments in the Allentown, Salisbury, and East Penn School Districts. While it may not be the final budget product, I'm proud of the progress and will continue working for you!

Earlier today, I was proud to receive a Good Neighbor Award from PA PBS as one of its Champions of Lifelong Learning. PBS children's programming provides a valuable service to nourish and enrich the minds of our children and prepare them for learning in the classroom.
