Trump's claim that 'paid troublemakers' are behind current disorder in LA is a common myth often used to explain why people get involved in riots. This myth is almost always unfounded & not supported by any credible evidence that I'm aware of #LosAngelesProtests

“Just breathe” isn’t always easy but it is necessary to blunt the #stress response. The more O2 your lungs get the faster your brain can process sensory information (incl pattern recog) and regulate bodily systems…which helps regulate mood/affect.

It’s all connected.

What strikes me about the NSF termination data is exactly this: the PIs *doing the work* of making science more inclusive are primarily women, people of color, people with disabilities, and all intersections of those identities.
Individual-level racism would be DOGE saying: "Oh, here's a Black PI. Let's terminate that one."

There isn't enough evidence to claim that. Instead, it appears to be structural.

Women and Black investigators disproportionately study topics like STEM education that were cut at higher rates.

“Empathy and compassion are evolved states of being.”

Not wrong. Conscious animal behaviour…but better.
🎯 I’d take it further and say there likely isn’t. Politics informs society and culture, which drive and shape political thinking—at systems, community and individual levels. Taking politics out of a subject is like removing someone’s lungs and expecting them to keep breathing.
I need to look for the full piece since this is behind a paywall but, from what I read, it’s absolutely nuts. Also a little unsurprising—I mean, on most socials I’m uncertain about whether I’m interacting with humans or bots anymore. 😬

Last night was a hectic one. In case you missed it:

DOGE put a college student in charge of using AI to rewrite housing regulations. Because who needs experts when you’ve got ChatGPT and an economics and data science major?

And yes—this may be rolling out across government. Cool cool cool.

How about getting more legislation and SOPs in play that protects users more than the developers/financiers? This human experiment has become tiring.

In several ways, a minority government backed by a strong popular-vote plurality is the ideal Canadian outcome. Liberals + NDP + lone Green have a strong mandate from a majority of voters. The need to compromise leads to better policies, as we’ve seen in recent years, and a desirable humility
