On an all new episode of the Retroist Podcast, I am discussing the legendary 1967 cartoon, The Herculoids. I have gotten a lot of requests to cover this over the years and it was a treat to re-watch and fall back in love with the characters.

In November 1983, Toy “R” Us sent out this pre-Christmas sale circular. It is filled with all the great toys that would make 1983 such a memorable year. So let’s take a look at what you might have received for Christmas in 1983.

In 1985, during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, poor Kermit the Frog sprung some leaks and needed to be dragged down the parade route.

Listening to the Music of Cosmos this afternoon. Love this record. My Mom bought a copy of it for me after we watched the show together.

In the 1980s, at least one person had to have their hand resting on top of the monitor. It's a requirement!

If you want a little history and background on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade before you watch it this year, I have covered it on the Retroist Podcast. I learned so much about the parade, and it made me a bigger fan.

When I worked at my local video store and you came in on a Friday night looking for a Disney tape to rent, we were often out of most titles, but we did have a few "other" Disney tapes. Today on the Video Store Podcast I recommend those Other Disney Tapes.

A card from the comic book store I went to as a kid, A&S Comics. My grandmother would take me every other week and I learned a lot going there. Glad they are still kicking.

My favorite hobby is buying video games and fantasizing about playing and enjoying them

Over the past decade, I think I’ve spent more hours shopping for video games than actually playing them 😁

Popples are small, colorful, exuberant creatures, each with an idiosyncratic personality. They often appear to try and assist with problems, but end up causing mischief. They have pouches on their backs that allow them to curl into a fuzzy ball.

Anyone who saw the first Home Alone knew that Home Alone 2: Lost in New York was going to be a big hit. 33 years ago it hit theaters and was the movie to see that Thanksgiving and for months afterwards. Eventually making $359 million.

“How to Master The Video Games” and other books like it were heavily traded in my circle of friends when I was growing up. Outside of word of mouth and a few videos that would eventually get released, these were the sources for tip on how to play video games.

It might not be the most popular or the most well-known even, but Mr. Do! is one of my favorite arcade games. 43 years ago this month, the game was finally reaching arcades, and its as fun today as it was back in 1982.

In 1978, actor David Prowse mentioned in a public setting that Darth Vader was the father of Luke well before Empire Strikes Back came out, giving away the twist almost two years early.

When I visited my grandmother and we went to the supermarket she would let me pick out one item under a dollar. For a while they had great discount 45s. I played Jam On It by Newcleus on repeat for months after getting it.
