People from across the community joined me this morning at Tooting Broadway asking TfL to 'Give us a lift!'

I heard stories of the challenges faced with accessing transport from so many different perspectives.

Recently, the community came together to show their support for a lift at Tooting Broadway station.

Whether you're in a wheelchair, pushing a buggy or have lots of luggage, a lift is helpful for all.

Due to its location on the South Western Main Line, linking London to important ports on the South Coast, Earlsfield was also bombed heavily as a result of its proximity to Clapham Junction station through which tens of thousands of British troops passed during the war.

Because of its proximity to the heavily bombed areas of Mitcham and Streatham, as well as rail and tram lines at the time, Furzedown suffered greatly during the Blitz as seen by the shading of the map.

On VE Day, we remember the sacrifice of civilians and soldiers alike in our fight for freedom and democracy.

Among the thousands of bombs dropped on the area, a huge explosive penetrated the road and killed 68 people sheltering inside Balham Station.
