Many teachers who spoke to me said it was "short sighted" to not do this.

Great scoop here from @lydiach.bsky.social - Ofsted is considering whether to rename its proposed 'secure' grade

There are concerns it's not obvious to parents what it means or where it sits on the five-point scale

Given Adolescence is dominating news/teachers talk atm this quote from Kate is important:

“Young people’s political opinions about lots of things are diverging if you are a boy or a girl […]

“Oracy helps them learn, think, talk about their feelings, resolve conflict, and feel like they belong.”

Day two of #ASCL2025 conference here in Liverpool and @pepediiasio.bsky.social draws laughs from crowd re: Ofsted.

He says the last thing edu needs is an inspection system that “intensifies pressures."

"It’s a far cry from the Nando’s-style five-point scale Ofsted is proposing." 🐔

Headteachers laugh at Sir Martin Oliver today at @ascl-uk.bsky.social for saying they shouldn’t be doing extra work for Ofsted 👀

He accused his critics of wanting lower accountability with the proposed new report card system 📚

Definitions of what an 'inclusive education' were also banded about.

Witnesses say they see inclusion as a "process".

"It's not a static thing," they added.

She says schools are "doing their best" to provide support while a child is waiting for an EHCP.

Schools tell her that they are meeting needs by "pooling resources" and looking for alternative support.

She also called for a single point of contact at a LA.

Other interesting points include Mulholland suggesting there is a risk of "pathologising" SEND children as needing different things than other pupils. What's really needed are "schools that are fit for purpose".
rhistorer.bsky.social
MPs ask if making SEND support statutory would improve SEND provision.

McLeod said that we are "missing out" on tracking data for children with SEND support and that it's vital to look at it in the same way as EHCPs.

Catherine McLeod, CEO of Dingley's Promise, said only only six per cent (!) of local authorities think they have enough places for children with SEND in the early years.
rhistorer.bsky.social
So what's the solution?

Mulholland said that good practice is in "pockets" and called for a "system redesign" rather than short-term solutions.
