Big news: I’ve just started as Research Associate at AUT SPRINZ!
I’ll be working on resistance training, neuromuscular adaptations, and HD-sEMG with an inspiring team in New Zealand.
Can’t wait to share the journey and connect with more of you in the field 🌏

I’m glad to share this publication, part of my PhD project.

We used HD-sEMG to explore how different grips in the seated row affect muscle excitation:

🔹Narrow grip → higher latissimus dorsi excitation
🔹Wide grip → greater trapezius and deltoid involvement

High-Density Surface Electromyography Excitation of Prime Movers in the Narrow vs. Wide Grip Seated Row Exercise
The current study compared the spatial excitation of prime movers during the seated row with a narrow (narrow-SR) or a wide grip (wide-SR) using high-density surface electromyography (HD-sEMG). Fourteen resistance-trained men performed both variations of the exercise using 8-RM (repetition...

Thrilled to share that my abstract “Effects of Grip Variation on Muscle Excitation and Spatial Activation Patterns During the Lat Pull-Down: A Preliminary HD-sEMG Study” was accepted as an Oral Communication at SISMeS 2025 🎉

Grateful to be listed among the Top 100 most-read authors last month in Sport Sciences for Health.

As an early-career researcher, this recognition motivates me even more—still so much to learn and contribute.

Replicability in sport & exercise science (Murphy et al., 2025):
✅ 28% replicated robustly
📉 Effect sizes ↓ sharply when replicated
⚠️ Barriers: poor data/reporting transparency

Our field might definitely benefit from embracing #OpenScience.

Big leap in HD-EMG!

Grison et al. (2025) introduce SCD: a new decomposition method that doubles/triples MU yield in tough conditions (low amp, noise, deep muscles).
