Offering welfare or, worse, ignoring, this group for the last 20+ years is what led to this. People don't want to hear that you're trying to send them government checks, they want to hear a plan to restore jobs to their communities. Hierarchy of needs is pretty basic here.

Yeah, this really depends on the job versus career thing and the ambition of the individual. Being an astronaut is vastly different than being a corporate cog. And not everyone wants to make their career their whole personality. You want to be a CEO, great! You want to make enough to live, great!

Unfortunately it's less about righteous justice and more about the fact that they either couldn't prove most of it to the necessary legal standard or the SOL had run. So this is better than nothing, and hopefully gives his victims some sense of acknowledgement, at the very least.

This, right here. Corn and soy aren't actually profitable. The government has been propping up those markets for, at this point, a hundred years. That includes ethanol, btw, which they also, ironically, hate.
