Nojiko Hayakawa's such an underrated artist, breathtaking cover art & even better paneling.
Usually artists'll have a couple standout panels, but every page from her just look like this.
Very natural paneling, her art isn't constrained by the boxy shapes the way so many manga do.

I’m all for manga having more plus-size representation but a lot of the times the premise is just “Here’s Fattie McChubster & he LOVES eating”. Can fat characters get a second hobby please, at the very least put more heart into their interest in food.

Why is every “he died but woke up as a different person” BL always have the character going from looking masculine to the twinkiest of twinks.
I’m not saying twinks look bad, it’s just every series with this premise, I feel like the MC always got a downgrade in their new body.

My favorite artsyles for depicting femininity. Common denominators are soft colors & curves that are realistically proportionate, as for aesthetics I love series that go for glamorous, classical looks.
Above all I cherish art that can show off the allure of maturity.

My favorite art out of all the BLs I’ve read this year has to be I Don’t Cry by Isino Aya.
I love stylized art so much, and the use of negative space is so well-done. Breathable artstyles for the win, not everything needs to be highly detailed.

- Pink Candy Kiss: if feminine was a person. I love that they actually look like grown women, the allure of adult women is captured really well.
- Umi ga Hashiru Endroll: fantastic chara designs, top notch paneling & characters are very expressive. Lots of ocean-related imagery.

I can’t choose so I’ll talk about my favorite art from series I’ve read this year instead.
- Ie ga Suki na Hito: love the format, lots of earth tones for the homey feel.
- On My Way to Meet Mom: fantastic chara designs & even better landscaping, incredibly immersive read.

Speaking of paneling, this page slaps so hard.
I always love when artists imitate filmstrips with their panels, this takes me back to when I read Goodbye, Eri.
And the character jumping out of the panels ugghh so good

The biggest thing I’ve noticed is how her age has made her a lot more courageous in some ways & more cowardly in others.
She doesn’t mind stepping up in group projects or initiating conversations, but she’s scared to admit film-making means more to her than a pastime.

Finished vol 1 of Endroll & it was incredible. The storytelling, the artwork, the paneling, everything is so good.
It’s so interesting seeing the difference when you have a 65 yo woman as the MC vs a teenager, truly an underepresented group.

Sometimes I think about the things that are severely lacking in anime & I get really sad.
Like there are quite a few romance manga with good plus-size rep now, but anime fans are so starved they latch onto the first curvy character they see 😭

I think anime as a medium is really cool but it doesn’t favor nicher series so that’s why I’ve gravitated more towards manga.
People are always begging for more romance anime with adult characters, I can’t go back to starving after being well-fed for so long.

The ML doesn’t lose his rationality & start SA-ing the MC because he “can’t help it” either.
This is a more down-to-Earth portrayal of A/B/O. It’s about accepting yourself & things you can’t change, but also about defying the stereotypes society has placed on you.

One thing I love about this manga is how it doesn’t show the characters being in heat succumbing to instict like they’re wild animals. Not desire but feelings of fear, denial & resentment omegas have when they are in resonance with an Alpha’s pheromeones are emphasized.

Finished 52HZ by Dento Hayane & this was so good.
If you want to try omegaverse this is a great one, both of them are such nice people.
The title refers to the MC’s desire to be the 52HZ whale due to his negative feelings about his body & how it reacts to Alphas.

This is why we can't have nice things, people are always complaining about how inaccessible entertainment is, yet when I go out of my way to suggest free alternatives they'd still complain & pirate.

I posted a few channels that post anime for free on Youtube as an alternative for Crunchyroll since they're switching to an ISRAELI company that's pro-AI, and there are so many people that are like "just pirate it", some idiot even posted a torrent site in the comments.
