Okay! I admit it! You've tortured it out of me! Journalists are the most special important people in the universe! Please stop it now

We are staying home tomorrow! My sisters are taking their children to their husbands' families. My father is going back East for a college friend's 70th birthday. C is working on reducing contact with her mother. I am also quite set in my vegan-ish ways so Thanksgiving is fraught. It'll be nice!

put another way, the criticism that A.I. produces shoddy, overconfident, error-ridden outputs overlooks the relevant fact that so do many people who are currently employed, perhaps in a supervisory position over you!
On AI’s ‘mediocrity trap’ — experiments indicates that while AI helps the less skilled make something passable, the highly skilled don’t use it to produce something better than they could have; they produce something ok, but lose motivation to make it great. www.jin-li.org/uploads/1/1/...

at Irving Park and Kedzie there was a little billboard about the importance of ending gun violence and someone had written on it with a sharpie KILL DA OPPS so that's what I always think of whenever someone says "both sides"

It was one of those turkeys he pardoned. It thought it could get away with anything now, like the others that Trump pardoned.

it's literally never "THE RADICAL LEFT" it's always a nutcase, often one who has a history of voting Republican. it's not gonna be different this time and I dare Ross Douthat to bet his own money against me on that.

I hope they catch the registered Republican who shot those Guardsmen.

It cracked me up to read that Martin Luther wrote that Henry VIII should just marry a second wife, because there's more biblical sanction for polygamy than for divorce.

"Oh you guys have real jobs" said the bartender when we told him we're a lawyer and a therapist. We kept talking. He's moved here from Fresno, to live life here as a gay man, it's easy to tell. I always find these baby gays so touching, with their hopes that the City will deliver on its promises.

I really wish someone would make a move of the 2019 revival of "Oklahoma!" I think a lot of people would benefit from seeing it, for example a lot of high school students. It's also kind of hard to justify theater ticket prices for something that makes you feel depressed!
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

According to today's WSJ, tulip-related investment accounts for half of GDP growth. A reversal would risk recession. We can't afford to go backwards.

Why is Thanksgiving always on a Thursday? Just because they both start with Th? That's fucked up no offense.

"The rule is, healthcare to-morrow and healthcare yesterday – but never healthcare to-day."
absolutely incredible -- CNN host introduces a segment about Trump's "new healthcare proposal," but less than two minutes later breaks into her script to announce "breaking news" that Trump's healthcare proposal is being postponed

Irrevocably changing the climate of the entire planet sounds good but how are you going to pay for it?
"A 25-person startup" should not be allowed to "disrupt" fundamental inputs to the Earth's ecosystem, hydrosphere, and atmosphere.

Like, what are we even thinking here?
This is a VERY long piece about solar geoengineering that starts, scientifically speaking, badly, but gets better, but still has a few issues.

While certainly not itself fascist, i think this piece provides insight into the appeal of fascism, if you read it closely.
