If this isn't one of the key duties/roles of inclusive churches in the age of Trump, and as pews become emptier than ever, I'm not sure what is.

Excellent words from The Rt Revd Mariann Budde, Episcopal Bishop of Washington D.C — as Trump stands before her.

Will this kind of thing drive people back to physical communities where seeing and experiencing are 'definitely' believing? And does that mean AI could actually result in a resurgence of local communities? I'm sure I'm being over-optimistic but just a thought

Cathedrals are wonderful places for experiencing something genuine and big - the five-second echo before the choir's final chord disappears, the fleeting stained-glass light, or just the sheer size. Maybe more churches/cathedrals should promote these elements to reach new audiences in a secular age
There's something very special about seeing winter sun shine through into the cathedral. The light is clear, bright and short-lived, making it a real treat when you do happen to catch it.

If it was Liz Truss that finished off Queen Elizabeth II, was it Trump 2.0 that finished off Jimmy Carter? Especially given he said he was clinging on in order to vote Kamala

Perhaps it was by knowing his limitations that Jimmy Carter in fact achieved so much. Less is more.

Great read by Cllr Matthew Engel in the @newstatesman.com. If we boost local democracy, we have the chance to make visible changes that improve belonging and connection and reduce the flight to the short-term solutions of populists. @voxeu.org make the same point: cepr.org/voxeu/column...

After his presidency, Carter returned to his $167,000 pre-politics home and chose not to do after-dinner speaking. Interesting. Perhaps we need more politicians like that.
