Another warm one tomorrow with mostly 80s all around (a few 90s possible inland) then eyes on the rain chances starting up later Thursday and into Friday. Medium range ensembles not quite seeing eye to eye on the pattern yet (other than higher totals north), thus we have this. Stay tuned. 10/6/2025

Some offshore wind to start the week, mainly across the mountains, but the effects will be felt down to sea level with warm temperatures near the coast and inner bay. There is another chance for more rain later in the week, something to keep an eye on. 10/5/2025 @nbcbayarea.com

Fall fast forward: some soaking rains are starting the day, should see more activity moving to the east later. Chance for some stronger showers, isolated T-storms esp North Bay Mtns… and yes, that is high elevation Sierra snow at times into tomorrow. #CAwx 10/2/2025

As these things typically go this early in the season… top rain totals were in the North Bay, Mt Tam at 0.77” generally less than 0.10” elsewhere south. #CAwx 10/1/2025

Almost always … SFO issues are ceiling related, even if visibility or RVR is good. AWC 👀appears to be CIG. Not seeing anything crazy in the pilot reports, might possibly have a little bit of low level wind shear, as you noted with that change in wind direction.

Wednesday being best for rain still looking good esp. late morning to midday timeframe. Should get some clearing Thursday-Friday although may see showers over the inland mtns during the afternoon, eyes on what that low does into the weekend for both wind (north/offshore) & precip east. Stay tuned.

Smoke from a complex of fires in SW Oregon continues lingering in the Bay Area, although we should begin to see a reversal in that wind pattern with rain chances over the next couple of days that should help. @nbcbayarea.com #CAwx 9/28/2025

Well… about that northward shift. Monday’s weather system coming in weaker in terms of rain chances. Follow up system Tuesday night until Wednesday may have better totals but again mainly north of SF. We’ll see if this trend continues with the evening model runs tonight. #CAwx 9/28/2025

This visualization illustrates it a little bit better… should see better atmospheric mixing / air quality as the weather gets more active into Monday and through midweek. And hopefully quite a bit of rain on those fires to our north. #CAwx 9/27/2025

Smoky conditions around the Bay Area, but no fires nearby… So what’s going on? Smoke from fires to our north is moving south along the coast and into the Bay Area. South winds increase tomorrow which should help some ahead of Monday rain chances later #CAwx 9/27/2025

More clouds, breezy and cooler finish to the weekend ahead of the first storms of Fall next week (yes, a bit early) Although better rain totals likely stay north this really isn’t your typical September weather w/ daily rain averages mostly 0.01” or less. Stay tuned #CAwx 9/27/2025

Ensemble wx models still in agreement, trending w/ significant rain totals especially north. National blend of wx models sees the same with high elevation snow potential. We’ll have to see if things take more of a northward shift as we get closer. Stay tuned! #CAwx 9/26/2025

Yes, that was space junk spotted in our bay area skies this evening, video by Jamie Li spotted from San Mateo. As a general rule: meteors move much faster and usually end with a flash of light, space junk moves more slowly and can be easily followed across the sky. 9/25/2025 @nbcbayarea #spacejunk

We may have broken dry September.

Radar loop looks mostly aligned with the sharp range models bringing a chance of some rain at times and thunderstorms into the Bay Area tonight into Wednesday. 9/23/2025 #CAwx

Heat on the way tomorrow but into tomorrow evening and night we will be watching radar for rain chances and isolated thunder into Wednesday. Still appears the Central Coast will see more precip regionally. Stay tuned. #CAwx 9/22/2025

Fall begins… but weird September weather reigns. Dry offshore wind across the inland mountains into Monday. Temps will jump back into the 90s inland and 70s and 80s bayside. Then (weird) an upper level low brings a chance of showers and isolated thunder midweek. Stay tuned. 9/20/2025 @nbcbayarea

From Caltrans District 8 on Facebook and CHP reports:

Highway 38 to Big Bear "completely washed out" from mudslides according to CHP on QuickMaps.
"Closed in both directions from Valley of the Falls to the bottom of South Fork," Caltrans said on Facebook
