No! Well, perhaps occasionally when I'm trying to find things to take pictures of 😁

Wow! Beautifully done.
robralley.bsky.social
That's a very kind thing to say. Thank you! 😊

Thank you! This is as near as our city gets to city lights

Lights in the windows.

View along a back street lined with brick buildings, looking towards the end of a couple of shops in another old red brick building. It is dark. A car is parked to one side. One window on each floor has a light, the ground floor window a bright blue travel agent window, the middle floor yellow light and the top floor window an orange glow.

😆 It wouldn't merit climbing gear! It's the highest point of the old island - traditionally taken to be where Ely Castle stood

My guess is not! I don't know the song, but NJ seems to be mentioned in accounts of it. This one is a rather small patch of green land behind (and I think belonging to) Ely Cathedral (UK).

I can imagine. (I'll look out for you on Grand Designs... 😀)

I grew up not far away, used to these sorts of houses, so it still takes me an effort to realise how attractive they are.

Ha! And the Board(room)

Viewpoint. Cherry Hill Park, Ely.

The west tower of Ely Cathedral glimpsed through trees from the park to its south. In the foreground is a wooden fence, a footpath, and a park bench arranged for looking across to the cathedral, with a litter bin next to it.

Isn't it! They have them where I grew up, but not round here. Weirdly I miss them. (Also hedgerows.)

Abbey Gate, Carlisle.

View through a gatehouse, from one archway to another (both in dark shadow), out onto a street. The buildings outside are old red brick and red sandstone, and the street is paved with setts.

😆 Or an ibex. I hadn't spotted that!

Thank you! I'm still quietly getting through photos from Arran...

Sun on the top of a dry stone wall for #WallsOnWednesday
📷 #photography
A row of substantial rounded lichen-covered stones at the top of a wall with golden light falling across their tops; there is gorse (not in flower) in the background and a grey-blue sky.

Beautiful! I think you're right, though it isn't universal - I grew up in one of a pair of (attached) houses that each had a central chimney. I'd guess it's to do with standard layout of rooms in the house.

I must confess I don't know! In this case I think they're probably decorative not real, so this will be for aesthetic reasons only (to make new houses look older).

Canopy.
📷 #photography
View upwards along the trunks of a couple of trees by a small clearing in a patch of woodland, showing their canopy and the sky (blue with a veil of white cloud) beyond. They are sunlit from the side.

No, this was not long after the last new year. It's still too early for us to get snow or frost here.

Houses, evening.
#BlueSkyMonday 📷 #photography
A pair of semi-detached houses in a cream-coloured render, caught from the side by golden light late on an autumn afternoon. The sky is blue with a drift of faintly purplish cloud across it.
