Hi Bluesky people, I’m Roger, founder of Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil.

I’m in prison for 5 years for resisting the carbon regimes.

I worked as an organic farmer in Wales for 30 years before unprecedented rains destroyed £100,000 worth of my crops 🧵

Your Party has 800,000 signups — but it’s already imploding into power struggles.

The problem isn’t personalities. It’s the system.

You can’t use domination to end domination.

Gramsci was right. The old world is dying — and the new one struggles to be born.

We don’t need another left party.

We need real democracy: participation, not domination.

Always worth remembering that the actions of the Suffragettes were often not 'peaceful': sustained campaigns of arson, vandalism & in some instances assault. If anyone tried that today they would likely end up in prison for a very long time. @rogerhallam.com got 5 years for attending a Zoom call.

On reports the Home Secretary plans to grant police more powers to prevent ‘repeated protests’, Greenpeace UK:

“Protest works because it is repetitive. If police had told the Suffragettes or civil rights activists ‘you’ve made your point,’ they would never have won the victories we all enjoy today"

2/3 Notice "economic disaster" - comes before "total betrayal of future generations". So our living standards are more important than the life and death of the next 10 000 generations.

At least Badenoch doesn't pretend her priorities are not totally evil!

1/3 Ed Miliband, the energy secretary, said: “This desperate policy from Kemi Badenoch, if ever implemented, would be an economic disaster and a total betrayal of future generations."

My friend Larch has given 40 years to frontline resistance — most recently defending ancient woodlands from HS2’s destruction.

Now HS2 want revenge. They’re trying to take his only home. We’ve 3 weeks to raise £25k.

Please donate & share with a friend. Thanks.

Billions could die, and civil disobedience is the only way to save us. Crucially, religion might be the only thing that gets to a revolutionary tipping point.

All that and more in my first talk out of prison.

Why I Found Joy in Prison
This is my first full talk after being released from prison. Here's what I learnt inside, why civil disobedience matters more than ever, and why materialism on its own has failed to move people. I…

“If we continue, however, with the policies that we have out there, we are clearly on a pathway now of 2.7 degrees or 3 degrees where adaptation is simply not doable anymore. This is just what it is. We cannot protect Amsterdam from sea level rise of 3m. This is just not doable,” Thallinger said.
Why insurers worry the world could soon become uninsurable
Günther Thallinger, a board member at Allianz, one of the world's biggest insurers, says the climate crisis could make adaptation economically unviable.
