Always worth remembering that the actions of the Suffragettes were often not 'peaceful': sustained campaigns of arson, vandalism & in some instances assault. If anyone tried that today they would likely end up in prison for a very long time. @rogerhallam.com got 5 years for attending a Zoom call.

“Protest works because it is repetitive. If police had told the Suffragettes or civil rights activists ‘you’ve made your point,’ they would never have won the victories we all enjoy today"
