i've been out in minneapolis all day, talking to locals and trying to wrap my head around the murder of alex pretti. it's 11.23pm, and this is what i've arrived at. please RT, it's free to read: www.webworm.co/alexpretti/
"Say His Name: Alex Pretti"
David Farrier's Webworm reports that Alex Pretti's gun never left its holster - before ICE agents removed it and killed him at point blank range.

The Government of NZ made up of National, Act and NZ First don’t care if you die due to a climatic event.
#nzpol

They are ignorant fools.
Lest we forget: “Government rejects all of Climate Change Commission's emissions target recommendations”

“The move comes despite the Commission warning the effects of climate change are hitting New Zealand sooner and more severely than expected, and that NZ can and should be doing more.”

Parkrun this morning was very wet. Only the hardy turned up this morning. Or the foolish. Anyway I ran a sedate 27m50s and this was my 26th run and was also my 5th time volunteering.
Giving me a good ratio of 19%.
Finished rather wet - so quickly for a long hot shower and fresh clothes. #parkrun

The meddling by Willis and Peters over the Reserve Bank’s boss comments is pathetic. If Bremen had any backbone she would hand in her notice.

Now both Willis and Peters know they can bully her.

Lidar shows the issue very clearly.
A geotechnical investigation carried out in 2000 found a 0.7-metre layer of debris deposited by earlier landslides and erosion.
In other words, the Mount Maunganui campsite sits atop the remnants of past slope failures.

The Mount Maunganui tragedy reminds us landslides are NZ’s deadliest natural hazard
Tragic slips in the Bay of Plenty highlight how geology, heavy rainfall and climate change are combining to amplify a largely hidden risk.

Went through to Ohakune today.
Lots of rain. Some big roadworks. Lots of rain. Lots of traffic.
Drove past the two closed down forestry mills. Sad that.
Some very heavy weather on the way home.
Driving observed was pretty good. Don’t mind doing some cross country in the Ute. Pouring down now. My Day

People have died because we continue to label these climate change events as just some “unseasonal weather”

The current government has wound back it’s policy commitments to addressing climate change.

More people will die due to their incompetence.

Massive news lead on the flooding and whatnot.
Atmospheric river from the tropics.
Month worth of rain overnight.

It is climate change.
Not that they mentioned that. But it is true.

The Sharks are hungry and biting in New South Wales.
No food in the oceans?
Is it partially due to overfishing perhaps?

Bit of a Lawyer fandom moment for the law type nerds.
Judge in the case I might have been a Juror on was Jonathon Krebs.
A good fair chap that worked with Tim McKinnel to clear Tena Poira.

Very sick of this wind.
So over it.

Happy to report that I was not selected for the Jury.
A case involved four charges.
Threatening to kill x 2 and unlawful sexual connection x 2
So that is good news for me.

For those who have forgotten the past 40 years:

Tax cuts for the rich
...don’t trickle down

Boosting military spending
...doesn’t bring peace

Slashing regulations
...doesn’t create jobs

Folks, we’ve seen this all before.

Parkrun run this morning went ok.
Have had a sore knee for last few weeks.
See how it feels tomorrow morning I guess.
Knees are quite useful things.

Yep felt that.
Little wobble.

Email from my Health PHO / Clinic informing me of the MMH Cybersecurity incident.
Just a general message outlining the issue and what is being done and what is next.
Doesn’t sound like this particular PHO was affected / involved.
Message in at 5:41pm last night (Thursday)

Some people make fast albums. But Land Speed Record by Minneapolis band Hüsker Dü is a blistering fast album that brutally assaults the ears.
One of my first introductions to American Punk music.

One of my favourite YouTube channels is Big Car @bigcar2.bsky.social

It is run by Andy, a British chap who lives in USA. It's a fab source of info on old cars.

This year's Christmas special covers the history of LEGO Technic cars. It's wonderful. Take a look.
