“For the first time, federal prosecutors are seeking to convict protesters — most of them American citizens — on charges related to domestic terrorism. The outcome will test whether President Donald Trump’s yearslong campaign to brand leftist activists as terrorists can succeed in the courts.”
Trump wants to prosecute anti-fascists as terrorists. This Texas trial will test his power.
A July 4 shooting at an ICE detention center could change the way the federal government prosecutes activists.

For displaced Palestinians in Cairo, returning to Gaza no longer feels possible, Athar Ihab Abu Samra reports. With the Rafah crossing reopened, Palestinians must decide whether to abandon what little stability they have built to return to a homeland buried in rubble.

The British Museum acknowledged that it updated certain displays in its Middle East Galleries with terms such as “Canaan,” amid news reports accusing the institution of erasing Palestinian history.
Did the British Museum Remove Palestine From Its Displays?
The institution acknowledged altering some texts to refer to Canaan, an ancient name for the region, but said the word “Palestine” still appears elsewhere.

New in PN: CBS obeys in advance

"A routine TV hit which would have been quickly forgotten became a national story about government censorship and a Democratic candidate being silenced by Trump’s henchmen. In a tough primary, you couldn’t buy better exposure. Nice work, FCC Chair Brendan Carr."
CBS obeys in advance

Hassett on the notion that tariffs are regressive: "The bottom line is Trump policies are meant to onshore production and create jobs, and those jobs aren't there for Jeff Bezos, they're meant for people who didn't have a job before. So they're by definition the people at the bottom."

Real insane part of this clip is Hassett saying in the beginning that NY Fed researchers “should be disciplined” for…writing an economics paper that comes to a conclusion the president dislikes? A conclusion that matches the vast majority of economic evidence on tariffs? Nuts
