As always, they’re dividing people into categories and hating on the ‘not us’ group. We can be for both American citizens and ‘illegal aliens’ (such a revolting term). We’re all human beings and we can be *for* all human beings. It ain’t always easy but it’s always the right stance to take.

That's an interesting scenario, ICE showing up on No Kings Day. Has there been talk of that? The famous flowers-in-the-gun-barrel photo from the Vietnam era protests comes to mind.

The French have a lot of revolutionary history and cred. So do we, at least the history part. Will we rise up again? I believe we will. It's just taking longer than it should to escape our deeply inured shackles of comfort and malaise.

Same here, Dixie. But boy does it take time and resolve. They made me jump through ridiculous hoops, repetitive requests, etc., before they relented on what should have been obvious. And yeah, Medicare rocks. We should all have it, like most civilized societies... wait, are we still in that club?

I cannot thank you enough for conveying this sad message. I had not heard. 😥 The Moodys are in musical pantheon. On to top it off, as many hundreds of times as I've listened to Knights in White Satin, this it the first time I've ever seen it performed. What a treat.

Bondi, Vance, Kennedy, Noem - the unmitigated arrogance of these people is a disgusting spectacle to watch. I don't think it's helping them with anyone beyond their fellow deplorables.

No doubt about it. Is anybody monitoring the timing of insider stock purchases and short sales relative to Trump's tariff decisions? I know that data is available, or at least used to be.

Just read this review or your Dark Star Rising. Very interesting. And it gives me a new way of viewing Trump that’s worthy of further exploration and contemplation. And the review is extremely well-written to boot.

You and me both, and a whole lot of other folks. And it's that fury, growing like a latent volcano, that I hope and still believe will ultimately erupt – and I believe sooner than we might think – and stop this cruel abomination we are witnessing, if not suffering directly, as are so many.

Been wondering about the same basic question, i.e., can local law enforcement interfere with these ICE thugs? I know fed laws trumps local laws, but what if the fed is breaking the law? Seems a case worth getting in front of a court, bloody though the instance of local defiance might be.

Yeah, it's truly stunning and terribly depressing that 42% are just fine with what's happening on the streets of our cities, not to mention to the whole country. Some people truly prefer a strongman form of government. Sad, to say the least. And frightening.

I can relate, Laurie Sue. I did not want Joe to drop out. And I also believe he would've been a good president, at least a while longer, w/ Kamala ready and able in the wings. But looking back, probably would've been wiser to announce his no-run intentions a year or so before. But who knows.

Couldn’t agree more. Yes, he made a poor decision in choosing to run again given his advancing age. But other than that, I contend Joe was the best president of my lifetime. And I’m 78.

So again I am asking myself if the value I get from WaPo - which I see primarily as staying in touch with what it's saying and thus influencing us all with - is worth more than the satisfaction I'd receive by canceling my subscription with whatever small measure of rebuke that act might administer.
