IRS can share an individual’s specific tax info when requested by DOJ pursuant to an IRC6103(i)(1) court order or general non tax info like proof of filing pursuant to a DOJ 6103(i)(2) request. But either is on a specific requested individual, can’t be a general mass requests.

The former IRS Chief Privacy officer: IRC 6103 has no exception to share tax information for immigration purposes. It’s against the law to enter into an agreement with DHS to share tax info for immigration purposes but it did by MOU signed by Treasury Sec Bessent. www.taxnotes.com/featured-new...
