Today I spoke about Fatima, a young woman from Wendell who was detained by CBP while simply doing her job. She has no criminal history, a pending asylum claim, and she was still denied bond.

We won't stop fighting until Fatima is home where she belongs.

I led my colleagues in calling on House leadership to reject an AI moratorium that would jeopardize protections for women and girls. We cannot turn back progress. We have a responsibility to create safeguards that protect against the harms of AI.

Republicans have spent years trying to rip up the Affordable Care Act. They still have no backup plan.

If they let ACA tax credits expire, millions of people will pay more for basic health care. Extend the tax credits now.

Fátima Issela Velasquez-Antonio has never been a threat. She is a valued member of her community, and she deserves to be treated as such. There is no safety gained by ripping families apart.

We will not stop fighting until she is back where she belongs. Bring Fatima home.

Happy Small Business Saturday! Let's shop local and support the businesses that power our local economy and make Wake County home.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope today is filled with laughter and good food with the people you love. Sending warm wishes from my family to yours.

It was wonderful to stop by Designed for Joy in Raleigh, which provides women in crisis with stability through employment.

It also has a retail space that is open to the public.

Fear and intimidation do not strengthen our country. I will continue calling on Congress to deliver comprehensive immigration reform that reflects who we are as a nation.
November 25, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Today, I gathered faith and school leaders, elected officials, and a business owner to discuss how immigration raids are hurting our people.

CBP's actions in North Carolina do not keep our community safe.
November 24, 2025 at 5:50 PM
I condemned the Trump administration's deployment of CBP to North Carolina on the House floor.

If Republicans actually cared about fixing our broken immigration system, they would work with Democrats on real solutions.
November 20, 2025 at 7:33 PM
This is how CBP is operating. Grabbing random people, even teens, off the street. North Carolinians are terrified, and this needs to end. www.cbs17.com/news/local-n...
November 20, 2025 at 3:37 PM
We all want safe communities, but CBP is operating without transparency and terrifying our people. They are going after people in churches, community centers, small businesses, and more.

They are not making North Carolina safer.
November 19, 2025 at 7:28 PM
With reports that CBP is in Raleigh, be sure to know your rights and what to do if you encounter federal immigration officers.
November 19, 2025 at 2:13 PM
Today, I voted to release the Epstein files.

After months of delay by Trump and his allies, the American people are one step closer to the truth.
November 18, 2025 at 10:48 PM
If CBP comes to Raleigh, we have the same message as Charlotte: go home.

Stop attacking our communities and go after real criminals.
November 18, 2025 at 1:05 AM
The Trump administration is sowing fear in our communities. They are targeting people based on the color of their skin and the languages they speak. This is not public safety. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/16/u...

Deploying CBP to major American cities doesn’t make us safer. Indiscriminate immigration raids are useful for sowing fear and generating headlines, but totally ineffective at protecting us from criminals and terrorists.

Republicans wrote themselves a taxpayer-funded legal bailout for January 6.

Every hour spent on this self-serving provision should have been spent working to lower costs for Americans struggling to afford healthcare. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

The House won’t block the bill to reopen the government over the language, but Speaker Mike Johnson said he’ll seek to undo it next week.

There are lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who want to protect healthcare for working families.

I introduced a bill with @liccardo.house.gov & Congressman Kevin Kiley that would extend ACA tax credits and ensure hundreds of thousands of NC families can continue to access life-saving care.
Our bipartisan Fix It Act extends ACA tax credits to reduce health care premiums without increasing our deficit, by incorporating reforms proposed on both sides of the aisle, by GOP Senator Bill Cassidy and Dem @ross.house.gov. A solution already exists–let’s cut the politics and get it done.
November 14, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Since day one of this corrupt administration, Republicans have taken a sledgehammer to our state’s health care system and steadfastly refused to negotiate with Democrats on funding the federal government.

Congratulations to Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva on being officially sworn in to represent Arizona's 7th District.

Seven weeks of partisan delay kept 800,000 Arizonans without a voice in Congress. That ends today.
November 12, 2025 at 9:45 PM
I'm back in DC to vote against Republicans' bill that does nothing to address skyrocketing healthcare costs. I will always defend affordable healthcare and the people of North Carolina.
November 12, 2025 at 9:06 PM
The reports about Trump and Epstein are sickening. Power and privilege should never protect abusers or silence survivors.

The victims deserve justice. The American people deserve the truth. Release the files.
House Democrats on Wednesday released emails in which Jeffrey Epstein wrote that Donald Trump had “spent hours at my house” with one of the convicted sex offender’s victims, among other messages that suggested Epstein believed Trump knew more about his abuse than he has acknowledged. nyti.ms/441Dyxh

The deal that passed the Senate does absolutely nothing to lower healthcare costs that are squeezing North Carolina families and Americans across the country. I’m coming back to DC this week to vote NO.

This Veterans Day, we will not only celebrate our nation’s veterans — their sacrifices and accomplishments — but also honor them by continuing to work to ensure that veterans receive the care and benefits they earned in service.
