Got about 508 hours in MCC on PC now, btw. I can get some good kills on most matches now, but I feel like I play in a reckless way where I've gotten good at clutching bad situations, but I don't put enough effort into avoiding those bad situations in the first place.

So unfortunately, I think making the sacrifice to fairness of allowing new mid-game joins is necessary, in the reality and in the context of most competitive FPS players being spineless losers who will quit if you breathe on them too aggressively.

I love the multiplayer of classic Bungie Halo, but the issue with making an arena shooter so fair and balanced, is that it leaves zero room for non-participation. If just one person quits, goes AFK, or is a griefer, now the entire lobby is trash.

And of course it's entertaining to see other characters be surprised at the MC's power, especially when those characters underestimating him are often framed as kind of shitty. Ultimately, I have zero issue with people enjoying Solo Leveling, but I don't think it should win awards.

Another anime that takes this approach that's actually good is Dandadan, and I couldn't more excited for season 3.

Even just talking about the animation though, there are aspects of Solo Leveling's fights I appreciate. The lightsaber approach to fights where everyone avoids getting hurt can get boring. It's more fun for it to be like falling dominos of counterattacks, where everyone regularly takes hits.

Solo Leveling is elevated to a 5/10 by animation alone, but it would be a 1/10 if it had bad animation. It's like The Room of battle anime, and if you like it without a layer of irony, you're probably 14.
