The way the word elites has become devoid of all meaning is interesting. It’s a placeholder for “someone I don’t like” and it fascinates me that the people who use it most are wealthy, went to “elite” schools and hold positions of power. Look in the damn mirror. You’re talking about yourself.

Each semester I go in my classroom and I try to figure out what we would use to block the doors, if it would be safe to crawl out the windows, where we could hide if there was a mass shooter in campus. It’s such an indictment of this country how we have normalized these preventable tragedies.

One of the worst parts of the modern condition is having to listen to billionaires airing out the stupidest policy ideas, random musings, and other mental detritus. It’s unbearable.

This defeatism doesn’t help anything. We are all aware of the challenges in Texas. But the idea that you simply don’t try because bigotry is a defining feature is wrong
She's in freakin' Texas, though. (As am I, but working VERY hard on leaving.) They have issues here with democrats, women, and anyone with brown skin. I sure hope she wins, I love her energy, but again, she's in freakin' Texas.

I can't stop thinking about the purported drug smugglers being murdered by the US military. The punishment for drug offenses isn't the death penalty. This is just bloodlust and men in suits playing with lives they don't care about. It's truly grotesque and gravely compromises this country.

So this woman is being interviewed, gently, about the salacious memoir she wrote, and then can’t talk about what she wrote and falls back on the damsel in distress tactic? I cannot believe how do may people elevated her and continue to do so.
