After having some time to get used to the changes, it's actually really cool that Nintendo redesigned the pause menu to fit the aesthetic of the original games, rather than taking the lazy route of overlaying a minimalistic emulator settings menu over the base game like in 3D All-Stars

If you skipped the Switch generation and are getting a Switch 2 over the holidays:
These 3 games will entertain you for hundreds of hours, run flawlessly on the new system w/ free updates, and won't get any cheaper. Far better value than the $80 Mario Kart (and arguably any of the other exclusives)

If you have a Switch 2 and have never played Forgotten Land before, there's literally no reason not to pick it up now. This was one of, if not the best platformer of the decade *before* the performance fixes and new campaign, and this is as cheap as it's ever going to get

The remaster actually cuts a significant chunk of waiting time out by allowing you to skip green star cutscenes the first time around, *but* the removal of Bank Toad adds that time right back in the form of Star Bit farming lmfao
Since the star collection and post-star collection cutscenes in Super Mario Galaxy 2 have an average length of 30 seconds and a full playthrough collects 240 stars, the player spends at least 2 hours per playthrough simply watching Mario collect stars.

SteamOS for my most played games, Full Screen Experience for mods and homebrew that don't support Linux, and I can exit to vanilla Windows 11 and connect to a monitor to use as my regular ol' desktop computer :)
