Furloughed federal workers are receiving 60-day RIF (reduction in force) notices now. I don’t know how I feel about this. I resigned my position in February and have been collecting unemployment and looking for another one since. I started work last week, for less pay but hopefully more respect.

And you can’t talk to it like you can with a human revenue agent, or you could if they weren’t furloughed. It’s not a good change, it doesn’t seem so.
But if you don’t pay your taxes, or you don’t file, there’s no limit to how long they can go after what you owe, or what they say you owe.

What I’m hearing is that they plan to replace human revenue agents with AI. Now I’m not sure how this is supposed to work, but certain safeguards exist to protect taxpayers’ rights and privacy. These may not exist with AI. Imagine a faceless computer gives you a bill for back taxes, with no appeal…

CASPER, WY - Wyoming Conservation Services released a statement this week after several out-of-state hunters “accidentally harvested” a growing list of non-game animals across the state this season. Officials are calling it “the most confused hunting season in modern history.”

Among the more notable incidents were:
• Three horses tagged as “free-range elk” near Dubois.
• Two dairy cows processed in a field dressing video titled ‘Public Land Beef.’
• A llama proudly reported as a “rare long-necked mountain goat.”
• A family dog brought into a check station “for measurements.”
• One active beehive listed on a harvest card as “swarming quail.”
• And a Roomba, reportedly “moving fast through sagebrush” and “acting territorial.”

Wyoming Conservation officers say while it’s easy to confuse species for newcomers, “anything wearing a bell, standing in a pasture, or plugged into a wall outlet is not legal game.”

It’s illegal for federal workers to work during a shutdown. The way it was explained to me I shouldn’t even touch my government computer during one. The only ones who can work are essential personnel like law enforcement.

This is interesting. I rented a house in another state, where I planned to work for 3-5 years, before moving back. I had my mail forwarded there, got a driver’s license, registered to vote, registered and insured my car, and paid state income tax there, because that’s what you do, right?
