BSKY Introduction Thread: FFXIV Edition

I have changed my characters name for one simple reason, silly though it may be. Her name was taken from a character in Warframe, and I will not support Digital Extremes (the creators), a company who gives no fucks about accessibility and tells players to break ToS to clear content. I'm not kidding.

I was diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder - Depressive type over 12 years ago. This illness includes symptoms of a mood disorder, in my case Depression, and symptoms of Schizophrenia. The Schizophrenia can cause delusions and hallucinations, among other things. Auditory tactile, and visual were ones I experienced. Most of my hallucinations have been auditory with a several extremely disturbing visual hallucinations and a few that have been tactile. I do not do well with horror for this reason.

Seven years ago, I encountered a quest in Warframe that I would need to complete to continue the main story and unlock any future content. The quest is called "Chains of Harrow", and it has heavy themes of Psychological Horror woven into the story and environment. Unintelligible whispers, faint disembodied voices, featureless figures materializing and vanishing. These figures can even kill you.

Unfortunately, I didn't know any of this before I started the quest as there was no trigger warning telling the player what to expect.

After spending 20 minutes on the floor trembling and in tears due to being severely triggered by the events of the second mission, I asked customer support if they could push my account past the story. They told me it was impossible, and that I should have someone do it for me. Having someone do it for me would mean account sharing, which is a bannable offense.

7 years later, there is still no trigger warning and the quest is still mandatory. This isn't the first time they have been dismissive with issues of this nature with their players. I changed my name to remove ties to Warframe and DE, and will no longer support them going forwards.

I used Photoshop 7 to make forum signatures when I was a wee lad. I used it to make graphics that I was paid for which were used for 9 years. I learned how to do this from different tutorial sites as well as fucking around and finding out.
