Humans have had their chance. Now it's the turn of the dogs.

Yes?
No?
Cats?

Ah the sanctuary and sanctity of the "peaceful retreat" Tanzanian villa has been broken -- the Americans have arrived. Why so loud, good people, why?

I know it's a tired discussion and a stereotype, but this time is true.

The people in Tanzania have to be some of the nicest I've ever met. So many people say hello, give me a first bump, smile. Maybe even drop me a compliment on my beard. No agenda (that I'm aware of), just being genuinely pleasant.

Pretty sure I won this part of my dance-off with the maasai tribesmen... Maybe.

Our safari trip has come to an end, although we have two days left to relax and explore around our final hotel. Today we had a dance competition with a maasai tribe (video to follow), bought a piece of art and ate the best food of the trip. I finally found great Tanzanian food!

My sense of humour has been a bit hit or miss with the locals here. Not like at home, where everybody thinks I'm hilarious

What's one less obvious thing that you enjoy about traveling?

I really like saying hello and waving back to local kids (for whom, in more remote places usually, seeing a hairy white guy is rare)

Today we went hunting with a tribe (didn't catch anything with our bows and arrows) and they put Jo to work making flour.

We got rescued by a third jeep

Our jeep broke down. So we joined another group in a different jeep. That's broken down. On a very steep hill.

Out of the Serengeti and... I have internet! Here are some snaps from the big field. Now in the Highlands, pics to follow.

Fun food fact: in Tanzania they eat a lot of baked beans, just like the ones we eat in the UK. It's the only country I've been to outside of the UK that eats the same baked beans as us.

Today, a long and bumpy ride to Lake Natron, staying in an eco lodge run by Masai tribespeople. Managed to buy some local food before hitting another hotel buffet.

Other people farting: gross.
Me farting: hilarious.

Got a rejection from an agent, saying they've decided to stop being an agent completely. Geez, my submission wasn't *that* bad, was it?

Safari day 2 started with driving through a herd of cows on our way to Lake Manyara. We saw giraffes, elephants, warthogs, hawks, mongoose, impala and more. And visited a Tanzanite mine/gem museum.

Alright Tanzanian hotels/camp sites, I've had enough vegetable soup, beef in pepper sauce and dry chicken now. Time to pull out the good food. I'm ready.

Quite the view at this infinity pool
