It is that time again where @bsidesbristol.org.uk is going to be running a #RookieTrack
If you have ever wanted to do a talk at a BSides event, but have been too nervous, unsure, or just think you aren't 'good enough' this is the time for you to step forward.

Not saying geekines is ingrained into every facet of my life or anything, but I fancied watching a classic TV show and typed
"Where to watch Baudwalk Empire" and was confused by the results.
It's on Sky.

Question for the masses... getting a job in Cyber Security, should the candidate have a 'passion for Cyber', and should that be proven via a home lab?
Personally I think this is gatekeeping and limits the diversity we get in the industry, but I am interested to hear other people's thoughts on this

If you have a #BSidesLDN2024 ticket & can no longer make the event, please cancel the ticket so that someone else can!
Tickets may be free, but the cost of one not being used is an opportunity being taken from someone else.
Tickets are only available via:

A research paper looking into phising training and its value in actually stopping attacks.
At a recent social event I heard people STILL saying "we need to fix the human". We have been trying that for several decades, maybe time to re-think our approach

@bsky.app is a new product, and new products don't always put #security first.
So make sure you do! You can add #MFA through the settings page. Curerently this is only an email code, but I am sure the folks running the show will update this soon!
Also please don't use your old Twitter password!
