Realising this makes a pretty good introduction to me & what you might expect from my content!
I've followed some! mostly my challenge is that I'm 15 years out of research, & still think of myself as early-modernist/dix-septieme-iste, despite my current work: Sustainability, hobbies: textile arts, skillset: data analysis, interests: inclusion and neurodiversity, and life: mostly parenting
Amazing to me both that this is happening & news to me, and that it's so very close to home (my secondary education was in Burnley - between Queen street mill & Towneley!)
I’m at the British Textile Biennial, with exhibits and events in Burnley, Accrington, Blackburn etc.

Theme this time is invention and innovation, so plenty of #histsci and #histech among the new fibres and Lancashire looms.

Some of the things I’ve seen…
Stack of Jacquard loom cards, about two meters in length at Queen’s Street Mill, near Burnley

By my calculation about 120kb of data

The 6yo has us colouring extensively this holiday - I'm glad I found this book (aldi middle aisle), and simultaneously wishing for it to be slightly *more* something (though acknowledging it could easily tip into too strange for 6yo, or too valued to colour - yes, I have decades-old stickers)

Cracking (thundering?) early modern spooky stories for the Halloween season.

Can barely sing the alto part to record as rehearsal track for the carol I'm trying to lead tomorrow (note: am *not* good, is work choir, wherein I'm one of 3 who read music); can sing 85% of the bass... #YouWinSomeYouLoseSome #SilverLinings

Peak me: listening to the News Quiz in the car while scoffing coffee & marlborough bun, Guardian in the passenger seat, because I'm 5 minutes early to collect 6yo from drama club. There's a fantasy e-book in my pocket, & questions about the effect of flood risk on function of solar farms in my head.

Had a fantastic (if brief) visit to Malvern Quilt Show, where this quilt, Bauhaus Betty, made me think of @kariebookish.bsky.social (and also be in awe of such straight straight lines). (Quilt credit: Whitner Kane)

Followed a mystery footpath to Jacobs this morning for my #UnconfinedWalks (because the car was in the garage and I had time in an unfamiliar place)

I'm combining last night's #UnconfinedWalks (late, dark, curiosity about the ongoing road closure after a fantastical evening) with today's (autumn colours, shifting skies, and a library visit)

Misty hills and patchwork mowing for yesterday's #UnconfinedWalks - it won't be long before I'm doing this in the dark...

#UnconfinedWalk down to the rugby club for #NHSBloodDonation (autumnal colours & shiny cars

Both solo-outing & family time in #UnconfinedWalks today:

Pretty excellent light for #UnconfinedWalks this afternoon. This is scenic route home to ensure we reach park before our house

#UnconfinedWalks to catch a breath and pick up frames and mounts for some lovely prints today. Cheers to care & kindness and community.

Here we go: #UnconfinedWalks after bedtime today, and we're distinctly in the dark. (My camera *really* doesn't cope with low light levels)

Today's #UnconfinedWalk reminded me just how dry a summer we've had. The bank on the far right is usually an island.

#UnConfinedWalks today after a fail yesterday (we have colds, the rain was constant and while I'm waterproof, the 6yo objects vociferously). Here's us off across the common to clubs this morning (the wee one is in the back carrier, which is why I have a second head)

Taking myself for a #TeaUp after my #UnconfinedWalk - school run (noting: walk - we saw a mum running, but I'm not there) on a very atmospheric autumnal morning. Somewhat confused by the crocuses flowering in the park.

Apparently this in now a recurrent view. #UnconfinedWalks at a slow pace this afternoon.

Early #UnconfinedWalks because we've places to be: nursery, school and off to the train. Squirrel count: 7.

Very late sharing today's #UnconfinedWalk - to add to the dinner plans & get some air. Still very green here.

#UnconfinedWalks home with the toddler, having been to the #PresentTense exhibition at Elmslie house www.elmsliehouse.co.uk/calendar/pre... , which included a fascinating range of painting and sculpture, the real & the imagined.

#UnconfinedWalks - getting steps in on my way to meet good friends for immersive fun! Lovely day, with very definitely early and unconfined #ConfinedCocktails before lunch (mine was a delicious raspberry & pistachio decaf espresso martini).

If it waddles and quacks...
'The BBC isn't a broadcaster trying to ingratiate itself to Reform' says Tim Davie... but does do a bloody good impression of one.
