I've followed some! mostly my challenge is that I'm 15 years out of research, & still think of myself as early-modernist/dix-septieme-iste, despite my current work: Sustainability, hobbies: textile arts, skillset: data analysis, interests: inclusion and neurodiversity, and life: mostly parenting

I’m at the British Textile Biennial, with exhibits and events in Burnley, Accrington, Blackburn etc.

Theme this time is invention and innovation, so plenty of #histsci and #histech among the new fibres and Lancashire looms.

The 6yo has us colouring extensively this holiday - I'm glad I found this book (aldi middle aisle), and simultaneously wishing for it to be slightly *more* something (though acknowledging it could easily tip into too strange for 6yo, or too valued to colour - yes, I have decades-old stickers)

Had a fantastic (if brief) visit to Malvern Quilt Show, where this quilt, Bauhaus Betty, made me think of @kariebookish.bsky.social (and also be in awe of such straight straight lines). (Quilt credit: Whitner Kane)
A large teal quilt with fine (5mm?) stripes of pink in increasing 3 sides of a rectangle. There's a visual effect of receding space In this light, the teal seems almost emerald green. Vertical lines of quilting run down the image. Strips of 5mm bright pink is inlaid into the green cloth.

Followed a mystery footpath to Jacobs this morning for my #UnconfinedWalks (because the car was in the garage and I had time in an unfamiliar place)
Ye olde archway and kissing-gate over a footpath. There is ivy The rear of the abbey rose window. Brickwork & stone. A number of sheep under a small apple (i think) trees. A footpath waymarker - worcestershire c.c. and Three Choirs Way.

#UnConfinedWalks today after a fail yesterday (we have colds, the rain was constant and while I'm waterproof, the 6yo objects vociferously). Here's us off across the common to clubs this morning (the wee one is in the back carrier, which is why I have a second head)

Taking myself for a #TeaUp after my #UnconfinedWalk - school run (noting: walk - we saw a mum running, but I'm not there) on a very atmospheric autumnal morning. Somewhat confused by the crocuses flowering in the park.
Damp-toed skechers on a tarmac path with a sprinkling of leaves A generally grey & green view - a tree dripping in ivy, leaves and grass about in the middle distance. A spiny stone wall (reminiscent of stegosaurs) in the foreground. Under a tree; autumn leaves... and a small cluster of crocuses (croci?) Which seem worryingly out of season.

The Equinox had fallen on a day of such beauty and unexpected sunshine, that Old Fox had set up the long trestle table in the garden for an early supper. It was draped with the old green velvet tablecloth and there were vases of Michaelmas daisies & decanters of blackberry wine and village apple juice, artichoke soup with fine white bread & bowls of buttered potatoes & golden pies with elaborate crusts, a quince pudding with rich hot custard and a cinnamon plum cake with yellow cream. The light was golden and not quite of this world. It was the colour of old buried treasure hoards, of earth-dimmed torques and Gaulish coins, and a little breeze sent leaves pattering from the trees. To dear Autumn, toasted Old Fox, raising his cider cup to his friends, may She be a merry and gentle one!
