I'm not sure about this. Frimpong and Kerkez are clearly full backs. Wirtz, if you believe the rumours, was told he'd play centrally. Isak is a striker replacement for Nunez. Hugo a striker to replace Jota. A 4-2-3-1 formation. Seems simple enough to me. Yet square pegs, round holes. Why?

We lost to Brighton, Man City and Leicester in the league before winning against Leipzig in the CL. We then suffered another defeat to Everton before winning at Sheffield Utd. The Chelsea and Fulham defeats were after Sheff U.

Not true last season where Nunez was having way fewer shots than in the previous 2 seasons under Klopp.

He's not building the team around Gakpo but he's also not going to use Wirtz on the left despite your desire to see it happen. Gakpo therefore has no competition because Rio is not ready.

We're only missing Nunez in the workrate sense. Based on last season alone it's clear that Slot doesn't know how to create chances for a striker. Wirtz should be the cheat code for him, yet he left him on the bench today.

This was the bedrock of our success last season, particularly before Xmas. Really low xGA. It went to shit in the run-in. We thought it was just overplayed and fatigued players. Maybe it's Slot's tactics bedding in. It's not good.

We spent 90 minutes floating balls into the box for this return. Meat and potatoes for most defences. This is where you need Wirtz central and movement off him. Create chaos and uncertainty in the opposition back line.

At last it's match day. Seems like we've been away forever. Again, not looking forward to this one. We SHOULD beat Manchester United, and beat them convincingly, but it's football and this season we've been our own worst enemy. Let's hope for a good #LFC performance. #Redsky
