We must make sure the student feels safe when they are in our classroom. The student needs care and kindness. As a school we need to ensure the student is comfortable #TeacherEd #SafeSchools!
The challenges this can prevent can be unmatched, however, this can give teachers an opportunity to teach empathy and kindness. Work on SEL in the classroom and make it a learning opportunity #TeacherEd #SafeSchools!
My school runs a school wide competition which promotes inclusion, and aims to help create a fun, safe environment. The students are really bought into it #TeacherEd #SafeSchools!
Q2: For me, there’s a constant communication with the parents. In terms of creating a safe environment, the expectations are told to the students almost everyday. I combine with another teachers class for inclusion days and there we reiterate the expectations to foster a safe learning environment
I try to create an inclusive environment as possible, I focus a lot on inclusion and acceptance. I like to do activities that promote teamwork and things that allow all students to have a role. But the big thing is comfort and acceptance and we work towards that everyday #TeacherEd #SafeSchools!

Last Saturday, we had a great chat on #EdTech, and we're looking forward to another great one tomorrow on #TeacherEd #SafeSchools!

We'll be exploring ideas for fostering safe learning environments for students and educators. Will we see you posting along?
Thank you for this! It’s not a tip or trick, I just think if we all work together and have growth mindsets, we are destined for a great future !!! #GrowthMindset #TeacherEd
In my behavior room world, I use feedback a lot but it’s to praise the good they do. I always ignore the bad because even a reaction is a different type of feedback. Praising the good has always worked for me and made my students continue to strive to work hard #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

#TeacherEd #GrowthMindset An interesting quote on assessment - “You can enhance or destroy students’ desire to succeed in school more quickly and permanently through your use of assessment than with any other tool you have at your disposal.” – Richard J. Stiggins
A mindset conscious assessment puts the student first. Assessments are for growth and seeing how they are learning, not for grades in a book #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset
I feel like if it sounds tricky, sounds hard. The mindset is always going to be fixed. We have to be able to really motivate and make learning fun while also achieving what we want to achieve #TeacherEd #Growthmindset
Working in a behavior room, I let the students each week pick goals to work on and those are the expectations for example: patience. Then I remind them throughout the week, remember our goals. It puts responsibility on them and me to help them achieve it #Growtindset #TeacherEd
The power of yet I use everyday, I teach students who are close minded and I’m always telling them it’s not I can’t it’s I can’t yet and it’s my job to help teach you!

Q5: Sometimes I think our classrooms are misunderstood. I think as a school if we get more inclusive opportunities for our students, this will help. This can be done with clubs, etc. having behaviors isn’t a problem, we have to get over that stigma! #TeacherEd #SpEd
Q4: My goal at the end of the day is to get my students ready for their next steps. For them to become self advocates for themselves, this is awesome! One thing I’ve helped them get motivated is a student of the week, this lets them pitch each week why they deserve this honor #TeacherEd #SpEd

A3. Supporting students starts in the planning phase. First, assess the student outcomes then identify the anticipated misconception in the lesson. Plan multiple access points. Gather the materials/scaffolds that align closely to the student outcomes. Circulate + CFU constantly. Adjust. #Mathchat

My biggest goal in each of my classes is to see my students smile. One of my younger groups is a class of all Special Ed students and I allow them to create scenes skits and play together, giving them the chance to express themselves and their unique personalities

For Q3, consider your specific content area and how you support student success, for example, your classroom environment, assignments, and assessments. #TeacherEd #SpEd

Tip: To connect with our teachers in your subject area, use the # for your content area, i.e #arted #mathchat #scichat #langchat
Q3: It is a very relaxed, student choice driven classroom environment. I try to make the students as comfortable and as driven to work as possible. Without that, it just wouldn’t work in my room #TeacherEd #SpEd #SpecialEdClass
Q2: My students work on a timed schedule with breaks and that seems to help. They also are allowed one fidget at their desk. We also have a new type of chair that spins and wobbles and this can be used too. #TeacherEd #SpEd

For Question 1 (Q1), reflect on your experience and current practices for creating an inclusive learning environment for students with learning disabilities #TeacherEd #SpEd
