A few strategies:
-using turn & talks to allow students to rehearse and also cross pollinate ideas
- using “math talk” moves (eg rephrasing, repeating, etc)
- using math language routines, like stronger & clearer and collect & display
- sentence frames

A2: I am a fan of sharing 2 or 3 different approaches or solution paths for a problem and having students make connections between them. Having them note where aspects of the problem appear in the different student work. #ElemMathChat

A1: Start by having routines from the beginning of the school year where exploring and conjecturing and asking questions are built into the math. That way, sharing ideas as they form is just part of the culture of learning. #ElemMathChat
