Not like it really was expected to be any different, but we can pretty much pencil in Frederik Andersen as tomorrow's starter.

Brind'Amour on Kochetkov who was absent from practice today: "He got nicked up the other day. Got through the game fine and so I'm not sure if it was in practice or what. I'm not sure what his status will be."

Said the organization got input from goalie coach Paul Schonfelder, goaltending development coach Jason Muzzatti and even former goalie Cam Ward on the claim.

"We trust them."

On if it's easier to at least get a goalie up to speed with them having added Bussi just a few days ago: "Totally. [One job,] Stop the puck. He looks good. Big guy. Hopefully we're not going to be relying on that, but if we do, we have a lot of confidence in him."

Following in Roddy's footsteps 👏

Congrats to Jordan Staal for being named to the Order of the Long Leaf Pine - North Carolina's highest civilian honor for exceptional service to the state and its people.

"It's a lot to throw at someone. We don't want him to be worrying about power play, penalty kill and all the stuff that goes on at 5v5, so it might be more beneficial to ease him into it."

Alexander Nikishin not expected to start season on power play. thehockeynews.com/shortUrl/3N4...
Alexander Nikishin Not Expected To Start Year On Power Play
It's looking like the Carolina Hurricanes are not going to be giving rookie defenseman Alexander Nikishin power play time, at least not to start the year.

Legault heads down to Chicago after a strong camp and Jaaska goes to non-roster IR. He'll report to Chicago once he's medically cleared.

Bussi will remain with the main group until the team figures out their third goalie situation (which may just end up being him in the end).
