This one is a little surreal. My first paid, non-Polygon byline ... ever, and it's for PC Gamer. And, of course, it's for Destiny 2.

Here is my extensive preview of the Edge of Fate. It's long, but that's a reflection of just how much is changing in July.

The Edge of Fate will be the biggest change to Destiny 2 since it launched—an injection of fresh ideas, but also of ARPG grind
The launch of a new saga is bringing a massive shift to how Destiny 2 works.

For our final Renegades preview, we wanted to do something a little different.

Here, we've got a bonus episode of Rogue Signal where @rygilliam.bsky.social sits down with his actual Destiny 2 fireteam to answer all of their questions about the Destiny 2: Renegades: www.rogue.site/podcasts/des...

While at Bungie earlier this month, @rygilliam.bsky.social was able to sit down and chat with Assistant Game Director Robbie Stevens and Narrative Director Alison Lührs about Destiny 2: Renegades.

It was a great chat about the Star Wars blend, bugs, and old Drifter: www.rogue.site/editorials/d...

Renegades comes at a weird time for Destiny 2.

But despite some pretty healthy initial skepticism around the Star Wars of it all, Bungie might be threading the needle on hope here.

So far, Bungie is threading a difficult needle in Destiny 2: Renegades
Bungie's approach to marrying Destiny 2 and Star Wars is far more thoughtful than I anticipated

I devoured Dispatch in a weekend after waiting for all of the episodes to come out, and damn I loved it so, so much.

Here is my review!
Dispatch is more than just an excellent narrative game about superheroes. It's also a simple, but interesting, management sim.

And that's why it works so damn well. Our review.

Very excited to attend our first preview event as an outlet, and very excited to bring my impressions to you soon.

I've been to Bungie several times in the last few years, so I can't really describe how surreal it was to look down at my badge and see the name of a website I co-founded below my name
Where was @rygilliam.bsky.social earlier this month?

He was at Bungie, representing Rogue at a preview event for Destiny 2: Renegades!

If that looks like a Star Wars Sarlacc Pit, that's because it definitely isn't not that! We'll have his impressions for the Star Wars-themed expansion soonish.

A woman had her shoes off and sitting in my wife’s chair when we arrived to see The Running Man last weekend.

Listen to the first 20 minutes of the show if you want to hear me be super normal about it.
What’s this? A new podcast episode of Rogue Signal? A tease for a bonus episode next week? A discussion of the Game Awards nominees? A chat about Dispatch, a late GOTY contender? An overly long rant about movie theater etiquette?

Get in here, it’s episode 9!

Am I bitter that my big press job of nearly a decade imploded in one of the best years for games in the 21st century?

Of course not, idiot. Shut up. You are.

(Mostly just very glad and grateful to have my own home now)
The Game Awards nominations are here.

And they're exactly what you'd expect them to be.

And also they're pretty good.

2025 ... great year for video games. Not the people who make or cover them, of course. But the games? Yeah, nice.

Anyway, here are all the nominations.
The Game Awards nominations are safe and stacked
You can probably guess all of these if you've been paying attention ... but that doesn't mean its a bad selection

I’m not trying to throw accusations for something I have no proof of, but are we not at least a LITTLE skeptical and suspicious of the fact that Arc Raiders has hit ANOTHER peak on a Sunday weeks after launch?

The week Tarkov and Black Ops came out? Kinda seems like we should be asking questions

I was gone all last week and part of this week, but I tried out The Last Caretaker and it's ... interesting enough.
The Last Caretaker is an interesting start to an early-access journey -- one that ensures we'll check back in with it down the line.

But there's a lot of waiting around at the moment, and it really slows the experience down. Our impressions:

Just @ripefly.bsky.social doing great writing that perfect captures what we’re all about.

Showing off games — big and small — that are worth your time in the incredibly crowded room that is gaming in 2025.
Had a lovely afternoon reading this great little review, learning about a game I had never heard of, then playing said game. Games writing! It's good! (And so is "It Takes a War")
