The thing I find so fascinating about their use of Swifties in this article is that unlike MAGA leaving Twitter to follow Trump to Truth Social in 2021, Swifties did this without Taylor. If she joins the app the change will be driven by her consumers not because of her or any perceived allegiance.

Yeah, Tree should publicize those donations more right now. I don’t think she or every artist should always have to speak out, but when your work is being used to push a harmful narrative saying or doing something to correct that, like when she publicly endorsed Kamala, shouldn’t be a hard ask.

I get this & like for sure escape with him, but just don’t marry him right away, k? A lot of women get trapped in scary ass marriages this way and the legal process to escape is sometimes harder, more dangerous, and more costly than escaping toxic parents.

Ken Paxton’s crimes are well known. But John Cornyn may be even more corrupt.

Cornyn was the deciding vote on the “Big Ugly Bill” — kicking millions off their healthcare to give his billionaire donors a tax cut.

That is corruption of the highest order.

I get what you’re saying, but when the courts (I.e. CA) have called showing up a lawful order, taking a stand on how to show up if legally forced to show up, can be as powerful if not more powerful as not violating orders by not showing up at all. LBJ also used the guard to protect protestors.

All senior military officers are required to maintain federal recognition and 32 U.S. Code § 323 is the legal authority which allows removal of that federal recognition based on “regulations prescribed by the president” which would render them ineligible for their position effectively firing them

Probably, but that doesn’t make his willingness to take a public stand less significant. When people in power are willing to take a public stand despite the risks, more people will be willing to follow suit.

I think you’re misunderstanding my comment. Organizationally the National Guard ultimately does fall under the DoD, which gives them the authority to fire a commander, BUT I never said that gives them legal authority to mobilize those forces without meeting the necessary legal requirements.

Same. I spent most of my adult life in the Air National Guard and even knowing the limits placed on him, seeing his willingness to take a public stand in this climate is HUGE.
