Prompts thirteen and fourteen: Robot whale and Lift

Two March of Robots drawings in an eight page folded zine. On the left-hand side is a drawing of a robot humpback whale in the midground, a real one in the foreground, and three distant small silhouettes in the background. Does the robot whale mostly look like a whale with lines drawn on? Yes. But I do like the idea of a robot whale being sent out to monitor the whale population and the real whales knowing it’s not a real whale but singing to it anyway. SO. On the right-hand page is the prompt lift, with one robot lifting a third posed like one of them French girls and it has sparkles around its head. A third robot is down in the bottom corner being excited about this.

Prompts eleven and twelve: Knight & Squire and Moon Jellies

Two March of Robots drawings. On the left-hand page for Knight & Squire, there’s a clock on the wall with a pendulum, and a knight robot leaning over a pool table. No pool balls are in sight, but a smaller squire robot is partly obscured by the knight’s extended arm, and they are holding their own pool cue (is that what they’re called? I don’t play pool. Apologies to all pool players). On the right-hand page for ‘moon jellies’, there’s a blocky robot wandering between shelves of books with moon jellyfish floating between the shelves. Not obvious in this pic but they’re intended to be small nanobot swarms that assist with research by bringing relevant books to you.

Prompts nine and ten: Tea time and Boat captain

Two March of Robots drawings. Prompts five and six: A cat you can pet and pictures of ducks.

Prompts three and four: “He can take apart your engine if you ask” and free books

So keeping in mind I came up with a prompt list with friends, here’s one and two: Tongs and Digger

The first two pages of the eight page zine. On the left is the ‘tongs’ prompt (written on page), with a skinny robot lacking arms but having a rounded head with a large lens taking up the facial area and some delicate antennae pointing backwards. The long skinny legs are where the tongs inspiration led. There are dangling sensor-wires falling down behind it like a cape as it leans forward. On the right-hand page is a drawing of a boxy robot with hydraulic arms that’s an answer to the ‘digger’ prompt (written on page). Its visual sensors are in the middle section of the main body, and it has treads extended from the main body. There’s a hole in front of it and a pile of dirt behind.

I have sewn a few ‘Santa with Pears’ ornaments over the years.

This fine fellow has a robe of double-sided Italian wool flannel, Merino wool felt appliqué and hand-embroidered details, tigers eye buttons, silk ribbon hanger, leather brand tag, and miniature basket of pears.
