This cheetah was seen hunting near our camp in the Mababe Depression in Botswana, but by the time we caught up it was resting between some small trees for shade.

This group of impala in the Okavango Delta was on high alert, watching a juvenile leopard who had climbed down from one tree and was walking to another.

They were all sneezing to sound the alarm, kind of amusing to watch.

Before I left Marblehead Light, I caught this shot with clouds to one side and aurora to the other. Not the best shot of the aurora but I think it's my favorite of the night.

The moonrise lined up nicely with the most active part of the aurora in Marblehead MA on Nov 11, and all of it reflected in the water.

There were clouds further north so we went up to Marblehead Light on Nov 11 to try to catch the aurora over the open ocean. We got about 20 minutes up there before the sky started to cover up again. Just missed the subsequent substorm.

A little preview of where I was the last couple of weeks. Had an awesome but chilly morning at Dunnottar Castle on the east coast of Scotland. In this shot, I managed to catch a sunstar as the castle was backlit by the rising sun.

This juvenile lion was resting in the grass by a kill, we think its mother was out looking for her other cub at the time. I liked the patterns in its eyes as it looked up at us briefly before going back to sleep.

We really wanted to see an aardvark in Botswana, and finally came across one digging a hole the last night we were there.

Not the highest quality photo due to basically no light, we only used a small flashlight for a moment to get this.

We were lucky enough to find an aardwolf roaming around just after sunset outside the gates of Makgadikgadi National Park.

These small, nocturnal cousins of hyena subsist almost entirely on ants and termites.
