Endpapers are so much fun to make! For MY BED, I featured animals that appear in the book. In addition to creating full page illustrations, I made a series of animal icons for the adjacent text panels throughout the book.

It's raspberry season! When I made these replicas, I was inspired by our new raspberry patch. The raspberries practically begged to be featured in the summer scene! See the completed piece and learn how to make your own faux raspberries on my blog here:

"A Wise Old Owl" from Pocketful of Posies: A Treasury of Nursery Rhymes.
A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw, the less he spoke;
The less he spoke, the more he heard.
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?

Here's an early piece from 1982. I'm guessing its size is 20" W x 24" H. This style is so simple compared to the kind work I do now. I find its open expansive quality refreshing, but my impulse is different now. If I made a beach scene today, it would probably be crammed full of figures!

I built a wall with stones that I gathered at the beach. See photos and videos documenting the process of creating landscape details, such as moss, sky and the stone wall for the summer scene in my seasonal landscape series.
