Ex-Mo here. I grew up in a very progressive Mormon ward in Connecticut. Many of the activities were less proselityzing, more just regular volunteer work. I participated in the disaster cleanup of Hurricane Sandy for instance, and church lessons were more about helping the less fortunate.
