Here's one possible issue:

I had no idea this film existed. I've not heard of it, not seen any advertisements for it, not heard anyone talking about it until you posted this article.

Contrast: I heard a LOT about Sinners, from ads, word of mouth, earned media. 100% wanted to see it, and did.
