I built a prototype for a game idea that I'm about to start playtesting on Steam soon.
It's NOT CHESS BOXING. It's FRAGNARÖK!
A hybrid of Tetris and survivor shooter, where robot Vikings fight at the end of the world.

In the meantime, tried to add the game with the received keys to 2 accounts. Steam accepts and confirms, but the game doesn't show up in the list.
Maybe the game needs to be reviewed by Steam first before it becomes available to civilian accounts?

Hey, Godot Engine users, what are your current tricks and tips for handling freezes due to first-time shader compilation after install in a 3D game?

Oh fun. Steam admin pages have such bad UX that I have no idea why only the Windows files can be installed, and why the Linux and Mac files are missing, despite seeing the expected content on Steam.
Anyway, Steam tech support should respond next week.

I was able to install and play the playtest version using my Steam developer account.
Now I have to figure out how to obtain and distribute activation keys. I feel optimistic, which is never a good sign. :)

Steam app ID has been registered for my new game about robot Vikings. A closed Playtest is coming up to see if the proof-of-concept MVP is as fun as I think it can be. Wish me luck!

Godot error: "global_shader_parameters_instance_allocate: Too many instances using shader instance variables. Increase buffer size in Project Settings."

Hell no, I don't have more than 65536 such instances! Something is leaking somewhere.

I couldn't agree more on this one.

Turns out, the ad that I saw again today, was coming from a Corel Updater, running in the background (I haven't used Corel apps since last December).
Completely unacceptable. Uninstalled, won't buy or use anything from Corel again.

I only made turn-based games before.
Now, as I'm working on a real-time action, I learned to check if a unit has already been killed before trying to kill it again in the same frame. :)
It was a very hard-to-catch bug. I feel like I just discovered the secret of fire.

I'm typing code in Rider, then Win 11 suddenly decides to steal the focus and that's it.
And I saw a popup in the bottom-right corner earlier today, advertisign CorelDRAW which I already have and don't use.
MS and/or Google really wants me to switch to Linux as main OS.

I believe if you use spaces, then that calls for an n-dash, and without, an m-dash -- except when you indicate a range or related items, in which case the n-dash also used without spaces.

What's that special markup? It would be fun to think about possible solutions, even just as an exercise.

I took a very long walk today and I think I have an idea that avoids the need for having to dynamically build a NavigationRegion3D. Perhaps I can use NavigationObstacle3D nodes to control the walkable region.
This is a job for future me. I don't envy that guy.

* The illusion of escaping badly designed, pointless work, unlike toiling as a corpo-slave.
* I can't be fired by some random Excel sheet, only by my own stupidity.
* The belief/delusion that I have fun game ideas I can realize well, and others might like my games too.
Dreams, really. :)

According to a pre-Atlantean proverb: "If you let players upload their own animations and occasionally show them in random paintings, they'll love your game even more which leads to spontaneous viral marketing."

“I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing” – looks like those skills aren't easy to replicate. Or maybe it's the lack of specialized hardware.
Yet, I'd be too paranoid to allow even a C3PO in my home, as it could spy or go berserk any time – Windows has taught me this.

I find it appropriate that ultra-hard difficulty is, well, harder to access than the rest. A meta-layer of challenge, if you like.

My interpretation would be this:
* Model: an autoload (or just a dedicated, Node-based scene) that also handles game state persistency
* View: the .tscn file
* Controller: the script on the scene

Narrator: Ten years later, sipping the most exquisite tea in his sun-drenched chateau, Jake still had no idea what he'd meant by the note he'd scribbled the night before: "sign film rights for ForbSol3."
