Yokkaichi Fireworks Festival 2025 (Aug. 31, 2025)
The Yokkaichi Fireworks Festival, which had been suspended since 2022, will now be held in Chitose-cho. I'm grateful for the hard work of everyone involved.
I took these photos from a distance with a telephoto lens.

The Iga City Fireworks and the Iga Railway's special "Fireworks Viewing Train" sound absolutely wonderful! The train will even stop for 12 minutes between stations for a perfect view of the fireworks. What a fantastic event!

300 decorated trucks ("Dekotora") gathered from all over Japan at the vast former site of the Owase Mita Power Plant in Owase City, Mie Prefecture! It was my first time seeing Dekotora up close, and they were so shiny, sparkly, beautiful, and just plain cool! 😍

The Sanno Festival at Kinpeisha Hiyoshi Shrine in Godo Town, Anpachi District, Gifu Prefecture, was truly powerful. Amidst the blazing torches, the mikoshi (portable shrine) was carried vigorously across the small river from midnight. It was an overwhelming spectacle.

At the Ugui River's Senbonzakura (thousand cherry trees), the cherry blossom blizzard was like snow, no, even more beautiful. Every time the wind blew, a pink carpet danced in the sky – a dreamlike scene that took my breath away. I wanted to share this awe-inspiring moment with everyone ✨

I was able to visit this year's beautiful cherry blossoms along the Ouchi River in Kise, Yamaki Town, Mie Prefecture's Sanko-no-Sato. The lush green moss and abundant cherry blossoms were absolutely stunning.

So moved by the incredibly beautiful cherry blossom light-up at the former Konoue Junior High School in Kamikawa-cho, Kumano City! Kameyama Castle in Kameyama City, Mie Prefecture, was lit up in blue as part of World Autism Awareness Day. The cherry blossoms, which were just about to reach full bloom and could be seen together with the castle, were also lovely.

Takihara-no-Miya in Mie Prefecture is home to a sacred forest that preserves untouched nature. Along its approach, there is a sacred tree with a twisted trunk, which is said to be influenced by mystical forces and is well-known among certain enthusiasts.

The Satonaka Shrine in Higashi-Oyodo, Ise City, hosts a lion dance ritual. At night, the "Take-Yarai" unfolds with blazing bonfires and the sacred leader leaping into the flames. It ends with the "Demon-Banishing" dance. The intense fire, fueled by pine, left a deep impression.

The Sekijuku Gion Summer Festival, a traditional event, was held in Sekijuku, on the old Tokaido Road in Kameyama City. Four floats, lit by lanterns, paraded through the narrow streets of the historical post town, and the way the floats turned around and around was a spectacular sight.

The former Oda Elementary School in Iga, Mie, built in 1881, is the oldest wooden school in Mie. Its rare balcony and hexagonal drum tower make it a popular photo spot and cultural property.

Christmas illuminations were held on the terrace on the 6th floor of the Dai Nagoya Building in front of Nagoya Station, Aichi Prefecture. I didn’t have a tripod or a bright lens, but I decided to take some shots anyway.

The Sazanka tree in Kayumi, over 150 years old, stands 11 meters tall with branches stretching 15 meters. Sacred to the local deity, it blooms pink flowers each year, beautifully contrasting with yellow ginkgo behind it. Designated a natural monument in 1998, it is generously shared with visitors.

The "Toba Fire Festival," begun 1,200 years ago, is held at Toba Shrine in Nishio, Aichi. During the festival, 5-meter-tall "Suzumi" structures are set ablaze. Participants leap into the flames to retrieve sacred objects, offering them to the deity. The event predicts the year's weather and harvest🥰
