Some interesting learning points from BCS

1) if new AF more than 24h (not 48h) then should do TOE or if on doac for more than three weeks

2) Anticoagulate all HCM with AF

3) CHADVA now not chadsvasc (removes ambiguity of female sex modifier)

I have promoted @drasifqasim.bsky.social to my colleagues for RCP president. Innovative, driven and engaged, all interactions I’ve had with him have been positive and he was generous in his support when I looked to him for advice whilst still a trainee. This is the kind of person RCP needs.
I am also backing @drasifqasim.bsky.social, whom I’ve known for quite a few years now and have been deeply impressed with his efforts to effect change within the RCP and our profession. I believe he really cares about improving medicine in the UK and representing College members’ views
🧵/ Today the BMJ lays out in stark terms the crisis faced by the @rcphysicians.bsky.social.

I believe the College has lost the trust of members & ceased to be the credible voice of physicians.

This has to change.

Here's why I back presidential candidate @drasifqasim.bsky.social to do so.

Patients in trials are not necessarily representative of the patient cohort treated in real life.

The graphic below shows the average age of pts in various landmark #heartfailure trials -often significantly younger than the age of the pts we are applying this trial evidence to.
