All things HORROR, mostly 70s Euro, and Rock n Roll! Recently JESS FRANCO OBSESSED!
Sometimes it's just like, damn, I haven't seen Suspiria (1977) in a couple years. And Udo Kier.

I gotta say, the @severinfilms.bsky.social Blu-ray of Tales to Keep You Awake has a phenomenal Hours to Dollars ratio. I've been watching this for months and just loved it. After 30 episodes inished off with a half-hour doc on the great Narciso Ibáñez Serrador aka "Chicho"

Seven Women for Satan (1976) A hateful, unhinged millionaire seduces and murders beautiful young women in his castle, but is haunted by the memory of his one true love (Joëlle Coeur). Yes, he murdered her too. Also with Howard Vernon, and lots of ladies. The title says 7, that sounds about right.

Swan Song (2021) A retired hairdresser leaves his assisted living facility and walks from one end of town to the other to style a former client's hair at her funeral. Starring the great Udo Keir.

Good Boy (2025) Nice and short at 73 minutes, but the gimmick (evil house/spirits from a dog's POV) lost my interest pretty quick. Dog was cute. Made me miss mine.

Mondo Macabro's Blu-ray The Beast and the Magic Sword (1983) Bonus Feature: "Smile of the Wolf" a retrospect of all Paul Naschy's El Hombre Lobo films w Paul himself interviewed on each one, including the never-seen Nights of the Werewolf, a couple comedies, and some as late as the 2000s

Emanuelle's Perverse Outburst (1983) All recycled footage from 4 or 5 previous Gemser/D'Amato titles, made into one incoherent mess. The second half was all blowjobs. The "Pono Nights of the World" moves are clipshows, but they're presented as such, this was pretending it was new. Some bulllshit.

House of the Long Shadows (1983) Desi Arnaz Jr bets his agent he can write a hit novel in 24 hrs in a secluded mansion in Whales which turns into Grand Central Station for horror icons. 4 years after his last movie, 70s indie great Pete Walker directs for Cannon. 2nd chance watch, still don't like.

River's Edge (1986) Apathetic teens show little emotion when one of their group murders his girlfriend. Crispen Glover, Keanu Reeves, Ione Sky. Dennis Hopper's a recluse who gives free drugs to the kids. I guess those crazy Halloween moms are right! I loved this when I was a teen. Slayer soundtrack

Les Yeux Sans Visage aka Eyes Without a Face (1960) This TCM showing beats my "Dr. Faustus" VHS I bought from Sinister Cinema 30 years ago by a great margin. My wife picked it from the DVR, I assume so she could periodically break out in Billy Idol lyrics. She did the same for Flesh for Frankenstein

The Grapes of Death (1978) A woman jumps off a train to escape a zombie attack, right into the village where it originated. I'd describe them more like rage-lepers. With a show-stopping decapitation, and larger than life Brigitte Lahaie making the most of a supporting role for Jean Rollin

Dogtooth (2009) Meet this weird family, they like to lick each other. Early, strange, arty stuff from Yorgos Lanthimos. I liked it, not sure if I got it!

Got some neat lookin' stuff from @mondomacabro.bsky.social today. Only Der Fan will be a repeat watch (my current copy is illegal) and Nympho, Game, and School are complete blind buys, never even heard of them!

The Fly (1958) A woman smashes her husband with a hydraulic press then chases a housefly all over her home. Patricia Owens and Vincent Price star in this classic. I caught the #Svengoolie showing form a few weeks ago. #MilkLacedWithRum

Tales to Keep You Awake: The End Began Yesterday (1982-TV) A space alien disguised as an adult in college earns the trust of co-eds by helping them win a dance contest. Other, more serious things happen too, but I liked that part the best!
November 18, 2025 at 2:31 PM
Curse of the Crimson Altar (1968) An antiques dealer traces his missing brother to Christopher Lee's small town mansion where hip, young people hang out and celebrate a witch burning anniversary. Barbara Steele in blueface and Boris Karloff annoyed at a guy who doesn't appreciate good brandy. (1/2)
