Great to be at #SNP25 conference this weekend. Looking forward to discussing how we can act to make sure every child has a better future.

📣 We’re calling for every political party to commit to our Babies Guarantee and bold action on social security, childcare, and employment for families.

Poverty is holding back 1 in 4 young lives. We don't have to accept this. The 2026 election is a chance to change course and create a better future for children, and for all of us. Investing in social security is part of how we can build this better future.

Around 1 in 4 children in Scotland are living in poverty.

Poverty remains far too high, and people are feeling overlooked and ignored by politicians.

People in Scotland urgently want to see change. Our research showed that the public really cares about child poverty and wants to see politicians step up and take real action to tackle it.
savechildrensco.bsky.social
We listened to a wide range of people and tested different ways to talk about child poverty to unlock public support for change. We also worked with a group of parents to ensure that the way we talk about poverty chimes with people with lived experience.

Most people want to end child poverty. But the way campaigners often talk about poverty doesn’t help build support for action to tackle it. We want to change that.

The building blocks of our whole life are shaped by age two. Having this kind of help is even more important for parents navigating the changes that having a new baby brings. Early help to support new parents and their babies is a vital public service.

Good community-based family support offers parents a one-stop-shop of services and support. This includes things like help accessing childcare, financial support and employment, parenting and peer support, and play for children.
savechildrensco.bsky.social
Parents tell us that good community-based family support can be life changing. It helps children to thrive, improves parents' mental health, and prevents and reduces poverty by providing practical help with life's challenges.

🌱 Children flourish best when their families are supported. We're calling for all political parties to commit to the Better for Babies Guarantee, ensuring families are supported from pregnancy, for as long as they need it.
