Time seems to move faster and faster Even the seconds come by quicker than I remember When I was younger I thought I'd feel older when I got older But now I am Older And I don't feel very different now To how I felt when I was 6 Sure, I've grown And I know a whole lot more But I still don't feel like I've changed Crossed the established threshold From little girl to woman

grapefruits were falling giant red ripe grapefruits the size of your head we were children all 5 of us running the sun was shining we could hear people laughing but we were stuck in a forest full of enormous grapefruit trees terrified for our lives

lused to race their car to the street corner I'd use every ounce of strength my little body could muster they'd let me win of course and then wave goodbye and before walking back home I would stand and watch their car until it was gone then I'd wait in silence a few moments longer just in case they d decided to turn around My walk back to the house would be slow every step eating a little bit at me and my head would hang low turning back a few times because maybe they'd come for me scoop me up and take me to my real home to stay with them forever they never did

I washed my mother's pale blue dress I washed it with my red dress too I let the light from the sun poor in As the soap and the water seeped through I scrubbed and I scrubbed 'til süds came red And my hands had a pinkish hue When I wrung them out and set them to dry I saw my mother's dress and I knew I would rue this day I ruined My mother's blue dress

can't sleep Crazy brain keeps me awake I'm beyond exhausted But my mind can't find rest My stomach churns the food I had for dinner Too fast! too fast! It's like a tornado Naupea invading a fabricated picture of a homestead in my mind I would like to be in a one-man self-sustained home Just a world away from anyone else Then I might feel safe and sound And the creepy crawling thoughts wouldn't overcome My body's desire to sleep

An old room in my dad's house My hand feels small as I turn the doorknob I look for the binder of lined paper There are files splayed on the floor - which is just concrete The studded walls are dirtied with mud and dark liquid splattered Remnants of lost mothers hang in the closet Hats, knit sweaters waiting to be mine Sure to be eaten up by moths by the time I grow big enough to wear them But I take my time in this sour room Time has stopped in here My father, reality waiting outside can feel as fiction as a picture book if I move slow enough And let the quiet seep into me so l am not really living, but a thing in this room The only room in the house that isn't covered in memories that talk so loudly my ears feel like bleeding The only moving thing now is the dust particles Floating like stars in a galaxy lit by the sun On her way behind the hill you can see out the window

Molly's got the sun waiting for her to get home So she walks as fast as she can to not end up alone on the street She skips past all the worker bees still hard at labor She's on her own time now, but never really free The street smells of death, a cigarette can cure that Lonely, she pretends not to be in the world she's in
