The IOPC statement on Harshita's case shows that the UK govt is failing women, especially from marginalised communities.

Her family calls for accountability & justice.

With Killed Women, we wrote to the PM to urge reforms based on our recent report.

Yesterday's immigration announcements on earned settlement have sent alarm bells ringing for victim-survivors of gender-based violence. We urge reversal of these punitive measures & the creation of an immigration system grounded in a human-rights framework.

It fails to make vital recommendations on DA, especially for migrant women with NRPF. 1/2

Ex-police David Carrick has been convicted of further crimes, such as rape & sexual assault, incl. against a girl when she was 12-y.o.

He exploited women's insecure status. The govt must put safety over status, create a full firewall & support all migrant women.

Landmark verdict on abuse-related suicides in Michelle Sparman’s inquest.

We call on the police & CPS to reinvestigate this case & demand that the government accept our amendment to the Crime & Policing Bill to recognise abuse-related suicides as murder.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Baroness Newlove, a fierce advocate for victim-survivors' rights and a longstanding supporter of key reforms across our sector.

Though she will be dearly missed, the impact of her work will continue to be felt.

May she rest in peace.

One year ago today, Harshita, a migrant woman with No Recourse to Public Funds who suffered domestic abuse and alleged dowry-related abuse, was tragically murdered in Ilford.

Her life was full of promise. Her death was preventable. 1/🧵

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sir Geoffrey Bindman, a brilliant mind and tireless champion of human rights.

SBS has long valued its relationship with his firm and honours his remarkable legacy. An era has ended, but his work and values will continue to inspire us.

The burial of a report exposing the Met police's institutional racism shows a lack of commitment to change. Black, minoritised, and migrant communities deserve transparency.

The Met must make the report public and accept the findings of the report and the Casey Review on force culture.

On the eve of the Remembrance of Homicide Victims, we remember all women lost to men's violence and systemic failures.

Black, minoritised, and migrant women are disproportionately failed. Kennedi's case is emblematic, evidencing the need for a sentence review and a UK-wide femicide inquiry.
