After her great talk about Glamis estate at the recent @scottishindexes.bsky.social conference, their archivist has sent me images of rental records featuring my ancestors who were tenants there. Looks like there's plenty more where that came from, so there's a trip up north in my future #GenHour

I had to search over 70 dusty archive boxes to find these cases! Great to be part of #WDYTYA.

Do you use Historic Environment Scotland's data? If so you need to know that Canmore is being retired this June.

Trove (www.trove.scot) is replacing it and is now online in beta.

Please try it out and feedback your comments here: haveyoursay.historicenvironment.scot/heritage/470...

National Records of Scotland closed on Thursday 27 March

I can’t see a mention of this online but when we were in the Historical Search Room yesterday we were told that the NRS would be closed on Thursday and open as usual on Friday.

Hope this saves someone a wasted journey!

If you're wondering what happened to the original Glasgow University building in the city centre, here it is. Or rather, what's left of it! The staircase, built 1690 in the old building, is incorporated into the new one, but now faces the opposite direction to how it went originally. #recycling

#genealogy Tips for BlueSky Newbies:

Use CamelCase for your hashtags: #AncestryHour #GenHour #GenChat #FamilyHistory
teakayb.mathsy.space
So here's a REALLY simple thing to do that makes posts more accessible with barely any effort:

If you use a hashtag made of multiple words (like #mathstoday) then capitalising the first letter of each word (e.g. #MathsToday) makes it easier for screenreader software to read it properly.
